The photo is by Stephanie Sinclair who took it in Afghanistan in 2005). Ghulam Haider was 11 years old at the time sitting next to her 40-year-old fiancé Faiz Mohammed. It won 2007 UNICEF Photo of the Year for child marriage. Now click the post and read all the comments claiming it’s a father-daughter picture like facts mean nothing to these gaslighters. Like hundreds of thousands of little girls aren’t forced into child marriage in Muslim countries every year. The lies and deflections are disturbing but not as disturbing as how typical child marriage is in the Muslim world.

The “can men be women” issue is a true litmus test to see if you: - are intelligent - are empathic - are capable of basic logic and reasoning Historically, women have been discriminated against of the basis of sex. If you do not view women as worthy of our own sports and spaces, then you are a misogynist. Full stop

Nope. Not very organized at all and 75% of us (supporting female-only sports) were lesbians. So maybe more like a very disorganized civil war.

These people are ridiculous. They have lost all tethers to a sense of self. Their entire identity now relies on this treasonous hate of America. They make up fantasies of how horrible America never was to justify their need to "fight tyranny." They have no identity but this. And they cling to it with a death grip, because they have nothing else. None of it is true. Not the fantasy about America about which she is shrieking, not her identity of believing herself to be some "hero" in a movie about an oppressive government, and not the resulting congress-free, senate-free, President-free, childish (and completely chaotic) future she sees for this country. She is an infant. She and others like her will not get their way. Not even close. If you have a modicum of common sense, it's time to let your line in the sand about tolerance be made known. Myself, I have a limit to tolerance. I have a limit to patience. I know there is a limit to free speech. If your plan is to tear down the United States of America, if your plan is treason, I will not tolerate you, I will have zero patience for you, and I will not defend your right to free speech. @FBI @FBIDirectorKash

This may be hard for people who are not my skin tone, Jewish, or just decent humans to grasp, but the line was the Nazi tattoo. The “new information was brought to light” posts don’t absolve you. They just mean you arrived late to what was always blatantly obvious.

What Mamdani doesn't get, & will never get, is that America's greatness lies in the fact that people like him--who revile America, detest its values, & strive to destroy its economy--are not herded into jails or gulags or frogmarched to face shooting squads but get, instead, to run for and win elections. America's greatness lies in its limitless tolerance of obnoxious, ungrateful wretches who spit in its face. America is wasted on Mamdani. Think of the many millions of people the world over who would trade places with him in a heartbeat--and actually be thankful to be in America.

never thought i’d say this… i wholeheartedly agree with elizabeth warren. also, term limits. being an elected representative should not be a career. there should be no path for wealth creation or perpetual income from representing the interests of the people, in service of the people. private citizens should enter public service, leave, and return to private life, as the founders intended. “politician” has become a lucrative career option for those skilled at public oration and persuasion. while they may represent their constituents’ interests, the reelection mandate incentivizes short-term decision-making and voting, often counter to the long-term interests of the people. and having unfettered private market access while holding the privileged position of influence over, and non-public knowledge of, those markets will inevitably incentivize bad behavior, to the politician’s benefit, and the public’s detriment. these ideals may be too far-fetched for our modern political machinery to consider - they would be self-defeating of the machines themselves - but the citizens can still be deafeningly loud in demanding them. thx senator warren for getting this half-right.. also, term limits.
It's time for us to ban stock trading for all members of Congress, for the vice president, and for the president. Period.

Elon just created 4,400 millionaires in a single day. 400 of them are now worth over $100 million. These aren't VCs. They're SpaceX employees, and the list includes welders, technicians, and cafeteria staff, because for two decades the company paid every level of the workforce in stock instead of higher salaries. Juan Hernandez immigrated from Mexico and took a $28 an hour contractor welding job in 2015. He says he didn't even know what SpaceX was. The company gave him a $10,000 equity grant and let him buy more shares through payroll deductions. That stake is now worth $880,000. Trevor Hise's parents wanted him to take a stable job at General Electric. He picked SpaceX instead, stayed 12 years, and accumulated over 100,000 shares. At the $135 listing price that's $13.5 million. He's 37 and semiretired. His words: "The magnitude of this has been ridiculous." The most telling detail came before the listing. Over 100 employees quietly banded together and negotiated a group wealth management deal covering up to $5 billion, because none of them had ever needed a wealth manager before. Software IPOs have minted millionaires for 30 years. This is the first one where the money went to the factory floor.

I'm seeing a lot of tech founders on O-1s and H-1Bs ring the alarm bells over this. But they don't need to panic. H-1B and O-1 visas are dual intent visas, i.e. you are allowed to apply for a green card while you are on them. My understanding is that nothing changes for these applicants. Tourist, F-1 (student), and similar visas are temporary for non-immigrant intent. On those, you are not meant to apply for a green card, because that shows immigrant intent. That's why people on F-1 visas applying for green cards, for example, can't leave the country for a year or two while they're waiting -- they might not be re-admitted at the border. The loophole that DHS/USCIS is closing is the one where you can be on a non-immigrant visa but still apply for permanent immigration inside the country, because that immigrant intent is only evaluated at the border, not by USCIS at application-time. (Confusing, right?) On its face, limiting non-immigrant visas to not enabling permanent residency, and instead directing those applicants to the proper immigrant visa route, is not crazy. When you get a non-immigrant visa, you do certify that you don't intend to immigrate. The only technical talent that suffers from this are F-1 students on post-completion OPT, of whom there are many bright achievers in Silicon Valley. But many of those are also good fits for O-1s. As an aside, I obtained my green card on the F-1 -> EB-3 path, which is what's being challenged by this memo. I'm grateful it was straight-forward at the time because I never got an H-1B visa in the lottery (30% chance), but this was also not an ideal process. Three years of uncertainty. In my view, what closing this loophole does is force the conversation on the need for skilled immigration visas -- a better, faster, higher-certainty pathway from a strong university to the right to work that doesn't have you competing in a stacked lottery. The Twitter reaction is alarmist, but I think the policy reality is more benign.
An alien who is in the U.S. temporarily and wants a Green Card must return to their home country to apply. This policy allows our immigration system to function as the law intended instead of incentivizing loopholes. The era of abusing our nation’s immigration system is over.

a lot of people are talking about the fact that jia tolentino, the pro shoplifting lady, is rich. I think it's worth pointing out her parents were also embroiled in a scheme to traffic poor laborers from the phillipines into the united states. just think that's so interesting.

The mayor has often spoken out against bigotry and racism directed at Muslims. Given his role as the most prominent observant Muslim in American life, that is perhaps to be expected. But let’s be honest: it hasn’t taken any great courage on his part. It would be gutsier, and carry far greater weight, were he to clearly and explicitly speak out against Muslim supremacists who demean, threaten, and attack other communities, most notably Jews. By taking a stand against Muslim chauvinism, he’d bolster those Muslims already fighting against radicalism in their own neighborhoods, congregations, and families. Today would have been a good opportunity for the mayor to be absolutely clear. He was not.

Yesterday, white supremacist Jake Lang organized a protest outside Gracie Mansion rooted in bigotry and racism. Such hate has no place in New York City. It is an affront to our city’s values and the unity that defines who we are. What followed was even more disturbing. Violence at a protest is never acceptable. The attempt to use an explosive device and hurt others is not only criminal, it is reprehensible and the antithesis of who we are. I want to thank the brave men and women of the NYPD who acted quickly to keep New Yorkers safe. Our officers ran toward danger without hesitation, demonstrating once again the courage and dedication it takes to protect this city every single day. My administration is closely monitoring the situation and I remain in close contact with our Police Commissioner.

First they came for the Yazidi women. I said nothing — I am not Islamophobic. Then they came for the Christians. I said nothing — I am not Islamophobic. Then they came for the Kurds. I said nothing — I am not Islamophobic. Then they came for the Druze. I said nothing — I am not Islamophobic. Then they came for the Jews. I said nothing — I am not Islamophobic. Then they came for the Iranians. I said nothing — I am not Islamophobic. They are still coming. As long as it isn’t for me. #IranRevolution #DigitalBlackoutIran

This is the REAL Muslim Arab woman, not the version you see in Australia supporting the Hamas of Africa (SAF) or Hamas Palestinian terrorists in Gaza. This is the Middle East you don’t know. What you call activists are, in reality, terrorists. @elonmusk xitter.cf/mariam_almaz11/status/…
