If your PHP app is running in Docker on a VPS, don’t just assume your hosting provider will update PHP for you o. They look after the server and you’re responsible for the PHP version inside your Docker image. Updating the server won’t update PHP inside your container, so you’ll need to rebuild and redeploy it, then check that the new version is running. E get why o.
Na me know wetin I see person do yesterday o.
And again shebi una dey always say PHP no get level abi, yet one small vulnerability, almost or websites all over the world shapely run update.... hehe..... sharpestresssst

🚨 UPDATE: PHP 8.5.12 may still be vulnerable to php2shell!
Researchers are reporting a successful double-free trigger on the newly patched release.
⚠️ The official fixes may be incomplete. A crash alone doesn't confirm RCE, but this deserves urgent investigation.
Don't assume you're safe just because you've patched.

🚨 BREAKING: Node.js just dropped its OWN security bombshell.
4 HIGH-SEVERITY vulnerabilities patched TODAY, including one that could let hackers remotely execute malicious code on vulnerable servers.
→ 10 SECURITY FLAWS were addressed in today's Node.js release, FOUR rated HIGH severity.
→ REMOTE CODE EXECUTION: CVE-2026-111497 is a serious flaw in Node.js's Brotli decoder that could allow attackers to execute malicious code remotely.
→ TLS SECURITY BYPASS: Two separate vulnerabilities could trick affected applications into accepting certificates for the WRONG server under certain conditions.
→ Think about that. Your application could establish an encrypted connection while failing to properly verify WHO it's talking to.
→ THREE MAJOR NODE.JS VERSIONS AFFECTED: Node.js 22, 24 and 26 all required emergency security updates.
→ RUNNING NODE.JS 18 OR 20? Those versions are END-OF-LIFE and aren't receiving these official security patches.
→ PATCH IMMEDIATELY: Update to Node.js 22.23.4, 24.22.1 or 26.12.1, depending on your release line. If you're using Docker, rebuild and redeploy your containers.
PHP AND Node.js both facing major security disclosures on the SAME DAY.
If you run a website or application, TODAY is the day to check your servers.
And remember: the public release of security patches can give attackers a roadmap to systems that haven't updated.
Don't be the last one to patch.
🚨 A MASSIVE internet security emergency is unfolding right now. 🚨
Two CRITICAL vulnerabilities have been discovered in PHP, potentially putting millions of websites at risk.
→ NEARLY 70% of websites with a known server-side language run PHP. The potential scale is ENORMOUS.
→ TWO CRITICAL security flaws have been confirmed, each scoring 9.2/10 in severity.
→ Attackers could potentially take control of vulnerable servers remotely, without authentication.
→ Reports suggest PHP versions dating back to 2004 could be affected. The exact scope is still unconfirmed.
→ EMERGENCY PATCHES are scheduled for TOMORROW at 10 AM ET. Website owners are being urged to prepare immediately.
→ Europe's CERT-EU is warning organizations to patch ASAP or consider TAKING EXPOSED APPLICATIONS OFFLINE if they cannot be secured.
→ WordPress, Magento, Laravel and potentially millions of other PHP-powered websites could be at risk.
→ Once patches go public, hackers could reverse-engineer them and race to attack servers that haven't updated.
The vulnerabilities are CONFIRMED. The full technical details remain secret.
Tomorrow, the race between hackers and defenders begins.
This could get ugly. FAST.

Not just PHP. Node.js has also announced security releases for October 21, with HIGH-severity vulnerabilities affecting its 26.x, 24.x and 22.x release lines.
If you run either stack in production, keep an eye on official advisories and apply patches promptly.
Security maintenance doesn't stop at your application code. Your runtime matters too.
Node.js advisory: nodejs.org/en/blog/vulnerabi…
Effective Immediately, all organizations using PHP for their systems are advised to be prepared for an update addressing two critical vulnerabilities. PHP is widely used for web applications. These vulnerabilities often provide a direct path to the server's file system or database. If an immediate update is not feasible, it is recommend that organizations take the system offline until it can be fully mitigated. NSA will follow up shortly with more specific guidance.

OPay did something today that felt like witchcraft, but in a good way. 😂
There’s a woman I buy stuff from frequently, and I always transfer money to her. Today while I was at her shop and opened my OPay app, her account number was shown as a suggestion under the “Nearby” tag.
I was really speechless when I saw it; like damn, that’s a fantastic feature. I know it uses location to suggest numbers I transfer to often in a certain area, but yeah, it’s a great one.
Who would’ve thought of that? Great one, @OPay_NG

Seeing all these noise makers who have not created a single job, yet you’re attacking Femi just because you spoke with one or two riders.
It’s a game of numbers, like he said, and it’s possible for a rider not to earn over 100,000 naira per week.
The bigger problem is that we make it hard for founders building for Nigerians. There is nothing Chowdeck can do about riders sweating profusely when bringing your food. Are they supposed to control the weather or put AC in their bicycles?
I’ve seen Uber Eats and Deliveroo riders deliver food soaking wet just because it’s raining. Should we blame Uber Eats or Deliveroo for that?
If a rider is using a bicycle, that’s what he can afford to handle his deliveries, and that’s not a Chowdeck problem.
What Chowdeck has done is provide an avenue for that person to earn a living with the resources available to them. We need to stop looking for reasons to tear down founders who are actually creating opportunities and building for our market.

Trust me there are a lot of things that separates an elite engineer from everyone else:
- AI is good at answering the question you asked, but it's terrible at noticing you asked the wrong one...when you're given a vague or unclear business problem, can you identify the edge cases, the constraints and make something solid?
- reading code: now that code is cheap, you're going to be spending more time evaluating code that you did not write...can you spot spaghetti code and bad code in the wrong parts?
- debugging and handling ambiguity: can you create something concrete from vague requirements or from a spec that is unclear?
- can you debug and verify AI's output, even from code you did not author? esp during uncertainty.. this requires strong systems design knowledge
There's so much more underrated skills that separate real engineers from vibe coderrs
