This is the kind of feedback you’ll get if you overdeliver.
Even more now when we can deliver really good artifacts based on our designs.
They'll help our clients a lot with the brand implementation.
Concept based on @boxesdotdev product, built by @drewregitsky and @nbushak.
What if every coding agent had a face and a mood?
Each one lives in its own box, aka its own devbox.
Started as an artist, now a brand designer.
It feels obvious looking back. The signs were always there, but damn it took a lot of twists and turns to get here.
This is some good news
We were going to count how many times you asked about iPad, but we ran out of numbers somewhere around “iPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD”. The truth? We were listening and we wanted to get it right 💚 Pre-orders for the brand new Affinity for iPad are open: affin.co/get-affinity-for-ip… 🔥
Do people still use images like that on their site?
I had used an image like that when I was starting out years ago, had no clue what I was doing but It still felt wrong
My subconscious must have know it was an unholy act to use it 👿
The last 3 brand identities I designed all started with a founder worried the brand looked smaller than the company actually was.
Different products, different stages, same fear.
Once investors or users compare you to competitors, a thin brand reads as a thin company, even if the product is solid.
The fix is picking the few things people actually judge you on, the logo, visual identity, the deck, the homepage, and making sure those hold up first.
Eating at small restaurants in Da Nang is an experience in itself aha, really different compared to France 🇫🇷
Got some feedbacks recently on the fact that I didn't take calls.
Made sense to me when I started at $499 & $899.
But I'm seeing the limitations more and more for branding
1 call can avoid a lot of back and forth, even more when you present the strategy / creative directions & visual identity.
So in my bio & site you can now book a call, and I also won't hesitate to do calls with my clients during the process if needed.
We learn and adapt as we do the work aha
Every piece of Cachet goes back to five words.
Elegant, premium, heritage, human, craft.
The paintings, the wax seal, the stone, the hand-drawn bees.
Received a pair of headphones.
It was the pair 100$ higher that the one I paid for.
Tried them anyway, I look dumb with my bald head and some big headphones + It's not comfortable compared to earphones.
Staying with earphones and getting a refund.
What a way to start the day 😂
Launched my new offer around 2 months ago.
I got 3 clients in September.
Then I raised my prices.
Tbh, it scared me even tho they were really low.
Got 1 new client today for my biggest offer.
I’m also lucky enough to collaborate with an amazing designer on this project.
I had months without results before that.
Keep going.
little update to the site, couldn't stand the rounded corners and full sans-serif anymore.
It made it feel like a saas website & I want to go into hand-drawn/human territory instead of 100% tech feel.
Next I'll add some doodles/hand drawn elements to it and be done with it for now, but our personal sites as designers are ever evolving aha
"Someone on Fiverr can do a logo for $200."
I've heard this a few times.
And yeah, for a placeholder mark based on no strategy or thinking, $200 is an ok bet.
But here's what it costs: that logo won't hold up across a deck, a product and a launch. You'll be back here in six months, paying twice or more + confusing your users.
What I'd do instead: if you're pre-launch and broke, build an MVB (minimum viable brand). It's the building blocks of a brand: light strategy, colors, logo, etc...
I'm writing an article about that,
I'll share it here soon.
And if you're about to raise or launch,
spend once on a system built to last.
Btw, I see a lot of designers thinking taste is the moat.
It’s not.
Lot of people has great taste and did nothing with it, contributed nothing to the world or society.
Taste in itself, alone, is honestly pretty useless.
You all know that one guy with great taste, who has great ideas, but doing no shit with them, so in his case, does having great taste really matter? Aside from flexing I don’t think so.
Having the balls to bet on an unconventional idea because of your taste/what you believe in and following through it is is what I’d call a moat.
Realized the above reading an articles from the amazing @themadebyjames
