“Our relationship with the Kingdom of Denmark is both enduring and essential to Arctic security,” said U.S. Army Col. Remembering Gold Star Mothers & Families
USSOCOM joins our Nation in observing Gold Star Mother’s and Family Day standing in solemn gratitude for the families of our fallen warriors. The Gold Star is a profound symbol of sacrifice, reminding us that a service member never serves alone. We honor those who have borne the heaviest burden of our freedom—families who accepted the folded flag, said their final farewells, and carry the enduring absence of their hero. The unyielding resilience of these mothers and families exemplifies the true American spirit; it is their profound strength that carries our heroes' legacies forward and indelibly inspires our Command and Nation.
All U.S. Special Operations Command North activities in Greenland will now fall under the overarching operational name “Operation Apex Indigo” and will be conducted in close coordination with the Kingdom of Denmark. These activities are designed to enhance extreme cold-weather survival, improve mobility into remote areas, and expand interoperability with fellow NATO Arctic nations.
On September 11, we honor the lives lost 25 years ago in the face of unimaginable tragedy. We remember the first responders, firefighters, law enforcement officers, and everyday citizens who stepped forward and made the ultimate sacrifice.
Today, our Special Operations Forces stand watch across the globe, maintaining a relentless posture of readiness to degrade and destroy terrorist threats and protect our homeland.
We vow to NEVER FORGET.
Set the standard. Train the force.

September is Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month.
This month, and every month, we reinforce the vital connection that protects our force and our profound responsibility to each other. It takes immense courage to ask for help, and equal strength to offer it. Prioritizing mental well-being is essential for our collective readiness and resilience. By actively engaging, listening without judgment, and guiding those in need to the right resources, we uphold our commitment to Connect to Protect.
