📣 The Social Enterprise Development Initiative is here.
We're thrilled to share that Social Enterprise Australia, together with our friends at Impact Investing Australia, will be delivery partners on what comes next.
Impact Investing Australia is the SEDI Grants Administrator. They will provide capability-building grants of up to $120,000 to social enterprises.
Social Enterprise Australia is the SEDI Education and Mentoring Coordinator. We will:
➡ Commission communities of practice / other learning communities,
➡ Procure existing best practice materials, tools or training modules or commission new ones where gaps exist,
➡ Bring these elements together in an online Hub, including a way-finder tool, and
➡ Centre sector needs and feedback in the roll-out of the Hub.
A big hats off to the Australian Government for engaging the sector so well to inform its design.

I have been working with the Rural City of Wangaratta and social enterprise and housing developer Nestd to make this vision a reality.
To reach its full potential, the project requires collaboration and support from all tiers of government and the local community.

Inspiring and productive meeting of Australia's social enterprise peaks in Canberra. Having a voice for the sector in every state, territory and nationally is a powerful change, built by many, over years.

Join us online for the launch of new research: Understanding the Impact Costs of Work Integration Social Enterprises (WISEs). To be held at 11:00AM (AEDT) on Thursday, 30 November 2023.

WISEs or jobs-focused social enterprises provide job opportunities for people who are disadvantaged in the labour market. Because they prioritise their social purpose, they incur costs that standard businesses do not. This research seeks to understand these ‘Impact Costs’ and provide a framework so that all WISEs can estimate their Impact Costs.
Our collaboration with @sxswsydney delivered up to 500 free Industry badges to people working in the #socialenterprise sector. Very excited to connect and learn with everyone who received a pass - starting with the opening address delivered by @JohnGrahamALP #socialenterprise
The federal government has just released 'Working Future' - a White Paper on jobs and opportunities. It’s a big deal. This is only the third employment white paper since federation... And it names social enterprise.
Huge congratulations and thanks to all who contributed to this change - from those in enterprises showing how to do things differently to those who advocate tirelessly.
