If you’d like to support University workers fighting for a proper pay rise, manageable workloads, pay equity, an end to precarious casualised employment, and to defend their pensions, please consider donating to the SOAS UCU fighting fund #ucuRISING ✊

We’re extremely disappointed that SOAS management decided to rush through strike deductions for the December pre-Christmas payroll: wholly unnecessary, & maximally punitive 😒
Still, members please check your emails for info on applying to the fighting funds! #ucuRISING ✊

Was a pleasure to attend a screening of new Netflix film, ‘The Swimmers’.
A real-life story of two Syrian sisters – Yusra and Sara Mardini – who flee and swim to Greece before going on to compete at the Olympic Games.
A must-watch! 🧡

In March, I went to the occupied West Bank for @nytimes to write about Palestinian matriarchs or Tetas, and recipes they pass down the generations. It's a story about precious traditions, resilience, and Palestinian joy in spite of Israel's occupation.
