I was honoured to be invited to Westminster yesterday by @RLSSUK make sure to check out their resources this drowning prevention week and spread the message. Drowning is preventable. #drowningpreventionweek
2 years on we still feel the loss of Sunnah as strongly as ever. This drowning prevention week spend time educating each other on water safety 🤍
Thank you, Ness and Steph, for sharing your heartbreaking stories. These two brave mothers lost their children, Joe (17) and Sunnah (12), to drowning.
Drowning can happen to anyone. Water safety education is vital, particularly as summer approaches.

Child drowning deaths in England have doubled in the last 4 years, from 20 in 2019-20 to 41 in 2022-23. This tragic increase highlights how important it is that families are aware of water safety. Please take time to learn more this week.

One year ago today my precious daughter left this world. It’s been the hardest most unimaginable year of my life. The light of all our lives. We miss you every day. 🤍
Thank you for having us to speak about our children
Everytime my ring catches the light it sparkles so beautifully. It’s memorial jewellery made from some of sunnahs umbilical cord and strands of her hair 🤍
Today is probably the hardest day after the day sunnah died. Her 13th birthday. I have cried all morning, this isn’t how I envisioned her first teen birthday. Miss you everyday beautiful sweet girl 💔 11/1/11
Important message
Today marks the launch of #DontDrinkandDrown and also when many students around the country are heading off to uni.
Universities, encourage your students to #BeAMate, stay together and take safe routes home away from the water.

Sunnah should’ve gone back to school today. Instead of hearing about her first day of Y8 we were here. At her grave. The sadness is unbearable. We miss you beautiful girl 💔
This should be illegal. Absolutely disgusting thing to do to people 💔

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to put this message out there. This can happen to anyone but it shouldn’t
On 31 May, 12-year-old Sunnah Khan tragically drowned.
Sunnah's mum, Stephanie, tells her story, calling on the Government to improve water safety education for children.
Thank you Stephanie for your bravery in making this short film.

Many congratulations all who graduated today. A bittersweet day for me being without Sunnah but I hope she’s proud of me. #bnuproud

7 weeks on we returned to the beach to try and make peace. I took off my shoes on the spot where she washed up and looked down to see a white feather at my feet. We miss you beautiful girl 🤍
It was an honour to be invited to listen to this in person. 🤞🏽 for some change that may prevent other families from suffering the way we and many other families have suffered.
As we approach summer holidays & trips to the beach, this afternoon I spoke in @HouseofCommons about the dangers of rip currents. This follows the tragic death of 12 year old Bucks schoolgirl Sunnah Khan. Her mum asked me to raise this in Parliament to help others @RLSSUK @RNLI

Left some peonies with my girl today. They’ve become my favourite. I still can’t believe she’s really gone. It brings me a small amount of pleasure to make her resting place look pretty. #griefsucks though. The sh***est thing ever. Life is so unfair.

Tragically, a young girl from Bucks drowned recently in a dreadful accident in Bournemouth. Her mum has asked me to raise awareness of the risks of riptides during #DrowningPreventionWeek, so this morning I put a question to @PennyMordaunt. I'll do all I can to help the family.
