Two tier justice? Paedo police escapes prison A serving Metropolitan Police officer who paid to access a portal containing sexual abuse material involving children as young as one being raped or sexually tortured was handed a 10-month prison sentence, suspended for one year. Darren Hourigan, 51, of Tooting initially denied knowledge of the material and suggested he might have been hacked. Hourigan served in the Met’s South Area Command Unit, covering Bromley, Croydon and Sutton. Investigators linked two email addresses attributed to him to a portal containing 3,490 videos and 295 still images. Its folders included material labelled “baby” and “1 to 5”. He eventually pleaded guilty to three counts relating to indecent images of children. At Kingston upon Thames Crown Court, Judge Barklem imposed the suspended sentence, meaning the officer avoided immediate custody despite admitting the offences. Hourigan was suspended from duty and later resigned from the force.

This is not Reform's defence spokesman position who I think will be James Glancy. I'm hoping that this position is for Ant Middleton, fingers crossed.
🚨Reform to announce their Shadow Armed Forces Minister next week! 🛡️ Who are we thinking? 🤔
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Reform UK cannot have a “Shadow Armed Forces Minister”, despite how they style it, because to have Shadow Ministers, a political party will need to be HM Official Opposition. Stuart Anderson MP is the current Shadow Defence Minister responsible for the Armed Forces. shropshirelive.com/news/2026/09/0… members.parliament.uk/opposition/dep…

Hey @miriam_cates What did you spend £44,500 on in the year 2024 that you classify as miscellaneous? Asking for a nation of pensioners who have to live on a just over a quarter of that in a year.

This is the view from my bedroom window…..we’re putting the house on the market in March….I know it’s the sensible to do….I will miss my little (Mountfield 847H) sit on mower…..for about 4 months sheep are on that upper field across the valley….always so lovely to see them….and hear them. As I’m 76 it’s time to be sensible and downsize. The four grandsons love playing football in our garden….we’re moving to be closer to them and all of us are moving out of London. I was born in West Ham in 1950….went to an all boys boarding school in Woodford Green in the 1960’s…..my wife went to a boarding school in Malaya aged 7….we are both of a generation that are on the way out….my greatest concern is the rise and dominance of Islam in our country. Through the ballot box and birth rates we are being replaced…..creeping Sharia is everywhere now…..I’m so sad.

Nothing will change under the Tories and here’s Andrew Mitchell proving it.
🚨 NEW: Tory MP calls Robert Jenrick a "Neanderthal" for backing cuts to £6 Billion spent on foreign aid. • Tory MP Andrew Mitchell has described Jenrick as a “Neanderthal” in the House of Commons over his support for reducing the UK’s foreign aid budget. • The response came following a question from Jenrick to Labour's Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband. "How would he justify to working people and pensioners spending £6 billion on foreign aid whilst freezing the tax-free person allowance and cutting the state pension?" • Miliband backed up the Tory, by replying with "I would say to him, I think the answer came from the person who used to be in his party, the party he used to be in, which is that the money we spend on foreign aid is absolutely about preventing the problems from elsewhere in the world coming here."
