Calling all AI science communicators to submit proposals to the @NeurIPSConf 2026 Education Track! 🔥 We're looking for you to teach the latest technical concepts in AI so that audiences can get the most from the main conference week. Deadline is 4 September AoE ⏰
Calling AI Science Communicators: NeurIPS 2026 Education Track We're inviting science communicators in AI to submit proposals to teach an emerging technical concept. Concepts can be any technical idea that has underpinned a large set of papers at top-tier AI conferences over the past year, from new architectures to training and alignment techniques to evaluation and reasoning methods. Think the 2026 equivalents of the Transformer, the reparameterisation trick, or LLM judges. You don't need to be the original author of the concept, just able to explain it with real clarity. Accepted proposals must be paired with original teaching materials (code notebooks, demos or short videos) and will be presented as part of a full day primer in Sydney on 7 December 2026, ahead of the main NeurIPS conference. All materials will be gathered in an open repository, free for the community after the conference. Submissions close 4 September 2026 AoE (Anywhere on Earth) Submit via OpenReview: neurips.cc/Conferences/2026/… Learn more about the track at neurips-education-track.gith…

We will soon reach a go no-go point in NLP/ML research. I'm sorry how is one author connected to 40+ papers in a cycle realistically. I was not able to AC or SAC earlier in the year due to personal reasons, I will help this cycle but massive load. @ReviewAcl

Jane Goodall had a remarkable ability to inspire us to connect with the natural wonders of our world, and her groundbreaking work on primates and the importance of conservation opened doors for generations of women in science. Michelle and I are thinking of all those who loved and admired her.

Awesome research that shows that allowing "I don't know" as an answer massively reduces hallucination rates. This teaches it that saying it doesn't know is better than random guessing. This seems obvious in hindsight but why did we not think of it sooner? 🤯
New research explains why LLMs hallucinate, through a connection between supervised and self-supervised learning. We also describe a key obstacle that can be removed to reduce them. 🧵openai.com/index/why-languag…

Honored to be named in TimeAI 100 list, along w/my awesome Google colleagues @joshwoodward and Hartmut Neven and many amazing people. @billyperrigo did a very nice writeup: 🙏 time.com/collections/time100… My recognition is due to collaboration with many great colleagues on a wide range of interesting problems, so thank you to everyone I've been fortunate enough to work with over many years! 🙏
Behind every AI breakthrough and launch, there are hundreds of Googlers working to build AI that’s helpful for everyone. This year, our very own @JoshWoodward VP of Gemini and Google Labs, @JeffDean Chief Scientist at DeepMind and Google Research, and Hartmut Neven founder and lead of Google Quantum AI have been recognized on @TIME’s #TIME100AI, a list recognizing the 100 most influential people in artificial intelligence.
