Education can unlock incredible opportunities. Just ask our Goodwill Ambassador Mary Maker.
She grew up as a refugee in Kakuma, Kenya and recently attended #UNGA in New York to share a clear message.
Refugees need more than words.
They need action.

For refugees and migrants embarking on dangerous journeys, access to accurate information matters.
At #FIFA2026 in Mauritius, @Refugees joined discussions on tackling misinformation, online exploitation, hate speech and digital human trafficking, while strengthening access to trusted, culturally and linguistically relevant information.
Information can protect.
All a refugee needs is safety&the chance to rebuild. Anyone who has walked away from danger&escaped death carries remarkable grit and resilience—the strength to succeed in whatever they set their mind to. Investing in refugees is a no-brainer. I know because I am living proof.

Being forced to flee should not mean giving up the chance to build a future.
With the right conditions, refugees can rebuild their lives, become self-reliant and contribute to the communities around them.
Everyone deserves the chance to move forward with dignity.

Progress towards ending statelessness requires strong laws and collective action.
In Gaborone, @Refugees, @BOCONGO2 and @ohchr_sa are bringing civil society together for a three-day consultation supporting Botswana’s consideration of accession to the 1961 Convention on the Reduction of Statelessness.
The discussions will help shape a Civil Society Position Paper, including recommendations on safeguards against statelessness.

Refugees are human like anyone and with right support can contribute towards sustainable economy.
The @BWGovernment, @Refugees and the @UN_Botswana Team are advancing a transition towards greater refugee self-reliance and inclusion in national systems.
Led by the Ministry of Justice and Correctional Services, the engagement focused on the transition of Dukwi Refugee Settlement towards a more sustainable model, expanding livelihood opportunities, strengthening human capital and reducing dependency on humanitarian assistance.

Thank you, guys, for the innovative lung-shaped cake and the wonderful birthday surprise! My heart may keep me alive, but my passion and love will always belong to the lungs—I simply can’t breathe without them! 😂🫁🎂
Lesson from Man’s Search for Meaning: Suffering and death are part of the human journey, but they do not have the final word. Even in our darkest moments, we retain the freedom to choose our attitude, discover meaning and live with purpose.
Turning 49—and my birthday gifts have covered every possible crisis: Man’s Search for Meaning, The Seat of the Soul, The Four Principles… and tickets to Arsenal vs Chelsea.
If Arsenal win, I will have found meaning. If they lose, the other three gifts will help me recover! 😂❤️
Post-intubation tracheoesophageal fistula: CT defines the anatomy; bronchoscopy provides direct, real-time visualisation and localisation of the fistula.
The crisis of 40 is not about getting old. It is the awakening that time has value. My-
20s gave me dreams.
30s gave me scars&lessons.
40s give me wisdom.
Now i invest—in my health, family, purpose, wealth and the future.
My 40 is not about ageing. It is an experienced. See u 50
