I write about buildings, landscape, other stuff. Recommend car-free local vacations--you get some adventure and you don't have to stress about parking.

Just got a PR email that said: “PLEASE NOTE THIS IS NOT A NEWSLETTER. YOU HAVE NOT BEEN SUBCRIBED TO ANYTHING. THIS IS A HOLIDAY CARD FROM A REAL PERSON.”
OMG there’s a complex in Mountain View (San Antonio x ECR) that looks exactly like this & has the same population.
Guy at a party told me he got divorced during the pandemic and tried to organize his building, only to realize everyone living there was also a recently divorced guy. Thought he was exaggerating until I saw the building.
Spain is also where people throw tomatoes at each other. I re-enacted La Tomatina with red water balloons with a kindergarten class. But flaming brooms?!?

Wondering what is going on with the Hunters Point Power Plant site? I reported the latest wrinkle on this long-dormant property for @TheFrisc:
ICYM over the weekend: PG&E delays a key step required to move ahead with building homes, commercial space, and more at the old HP Power Plant site

Had to say no to the bunnies several times that they couldn’t be outside today, it was too hot. They gave up, but are giving me The Look:
Today I was waiting for the train in 100+ heat and it felt like that scene in “Fantasia” when the dinosaurs are trudging across the barren landscape and die to the strains of “Rite of Spring.”

This basket in my FB feed belongs in a documentary about Sisyphus the baker, trying to make bread while flour flows eternally out of his reach.

Another option for those three-day weekends!
"Rather than skip your vacation—or wallow in “flight shame”—consider a trip that relies on public transportation and bicycles. I’ve become a new convert to what some are calling micro-travel." by @smallspace trib.al/O28i9do

Nature’s superhero, the beaver! (genus = Castor)
Replying to @smallspace
Probably Captain Castor since it "sounds" the most superhero-ish already. Captain Castor's story would almost certainly be them facing off (and winning) against increasingly powerful natural disaster villains (megafire man, the thousand year flood, debris flow devil, etc)

Just spent half-an-hour trying to chase our two bunnies back in the house. They prefer wind and cold to warmth and snacks. Or they can’t imagine anything better than the status quo—which makes them similar to humans.
