I cringe when I hear that people are using NULLs from SQL as the gold standard. Here is a better way: introduce specific token values. E.g., MISSING_VALUE, NO_VALUE_POSSIBLE, etc. Document these values and how operations work on them. *Avoid* nulls!!!
