Bison are leading one of the most remarkable ecological comebacks in North American history. For more than a century, the great herds of the American bison were fragmented, broken into isolated groups by roads, fences, and human development across the Great Plains and Yellowstone region. Now, in a powerful wildlife success story, those artificial barriers are being overcome. On their own, bison are instinctively reuniting and reopening ancient migration corridors that had been lost for over 100 years. This isn’t just movement: it’s a profound return to ancestral memory. Large, unified herds are once again flowing across the landscape as they did in centuries past. As they travel, these iconic animals act as masterful ecosystem engineers. Their powerful hooves aerate compacted soil, their selective grazing encourages the growth of diverse native plants, and their dust wallows create seasonal watering holes that benefit countless other species. In doing so, they spread nutrients and help restore the health of the grasslands. By simply allowing bison to roam freely across their historic ranges, nature is showing us that wild ecosystems recover best when their original architects are given the freedom to lead. In September 2014, Elon stood under a tent on an almost empty beach at the very tip of South Texas, waves crashing just over the dunes, and broke ground on a launch site. In May 2025, he stood in front of a crowd at that same corner of Texas and said it plainly: "not that long ago, there was basically nothing here." Now it's a city. Literally. On May 3, 2025, Starbase voted to incorporate, 212 to 6. In Elon's words, "the first new city made in America in I think quite a few decades." I love the "I think." Even his victory laps come with error bars. What gets me is how it got there. One of the first things to fly was Starhopper, a stubby steel tank on legs that he calls "the original sort of Mad Max rocket." In August 2019 it hopped 150 meters. Then came prototypes that flew, flipped and sometimes exploded in full public view, right next to a public highway. That's his pattern. Pick the thing everyone says is impossible, build it in the open, break it, learn, build the next one, and keep going until the laughing stops. "In the space of about five or six years... we've built a small city... and a gigantic rocket factory for a gigantic rocket." Then in October 2024 the rocket came home and the launch tower caught it. His reaction: "it's really mind-blowing that the SpaceX team has been able to catch the largest flying object ever made multiple times." My favorite detail? You can just go and look. Anyone interested in seeing the largest flying object on Earth "can come here anytime they want and just drive down the public highway and see it." Name another place where you can watch the future get welded together from your car window. Why does a sandbar in Texas matter to me, thousands of kilometers away? Because it proves you don't need permission to build the future. You need a team, a beach, and the stubbornness to stay on it. The mission hasn't changed since the groundbreaking: "to take humanity and civilization and life as we know it to another planet for the first time in the 4 and a half billion year history of Earth." And the line I keep coming back to: "we can be out there among the stars making science fiction no longer fiction." From empty dunes to a city that builds Mars ships. I made a short film about it.

That's okay. It's like drawing to me. Do you know how much I erase? You wouldn't know it from the finished product. Maybe think of those pictures as sketches.

Hadn't seen much this morning in Central Park until this Red-bellied Woodpecker appeared at the grassy knoll. I managed to get one shot as it peeled away--but it was worth the effort! What a magnificent bird! 😍😍😍 #woodpeckers #CentralPark #birdcpp

It turns out that the Lake Superior side of Michigan still has colorful leaves due to the (relatively) warm waters of the lake keeping the temperature on the coast just a bit higher at night. My eyes have not seen this much color contrasts from the blues of the water to the oranges and reds of the trees.

Just read on a Telegram monitoring channel: "When Trump says we are close to the end of the war, he means that he hopes Ukrainians will soon be finished off and the war will be over You wish, you old senile fool We were, we are and we will be" 💯

A lot of it are bots and trolls. Elon is making up for the Russian bots that were lost. This place is a cesspool. I get some of the most repulsive, sickening replies from these so-called accounts. They attack Canada all the time. CANADA STANDS WITH UKRAINE, ALWAYS!! 🇺🇦🇨🇦💪

Archway of Dreams. Taken a few days ago as today was torrential rain here in Glastonbury. I did go for my walk but it was one of those mornings where I wish my passion and job wasn't photography 😂 Maybe I need a rainy day hobby as well. 😂

Usually once the leaves fall off the trees the tourists go home or somewhere where it's still peak season for fall colors. Personally, I like when a lot of the leaves fell off of the trees, the make for the perfect foregrounds.
