This is how I'd fix the iPhone Duo's ridiculous sidebar. I call it Twin Islands. Two little glass bars: one around the camera for statuses, one at the bottom for app controls. Apps get the full width of the screen. Controls stay under your thumb. Thoughts?

legacy softwares' referencing of reality and subsequently its friction, born out of technical limitation and philosophical naivety, were the constraint that generated finite experiences we are a lost generation, sucked into an infinite orthogonal world in the transition to complete technical mastery a water bottle, conversation, sporting event are finite experiences by nature, and thus are the perfect api our current generation of technology will be outlawed or licensed. we are voyagers and martyrs
alright ill explain myself (quickly)

I'm fascinated by the rise of frictionmaxxing as a response to a frictionless life. We engineer away inconvenience, only to discover that some of the friction we removed was part of what made life feel alive in the first place

I think the thing people don't understand about how I used Neovim and what I liked about it (even though it's what I repeatedly said many many times) is this: I felt like it was an effective tool for solving real problems and delivering value for people on a consistent basis for a long time. Some of that value was derived from my own personal feelings and some of it was derived from things that I thought I could do faster. Some of them were just about enjoying my job, like having a ping pong table at work. I will continue to use whatever tools I think allow me to do the best job that I can over an extended period of time, deliver value for people, stay employed, and keep putting food on my family's table. Of course right now that mostly means answering emails for the Primeagen, but some day that might mean coding.

software is the most valuable commodity in history. this is why it will be solved first. the valuation of X determines the offset from now until it'll be solved whether youre actually smart or not will be determined in retrospect 10 years from now if you think youre smart, prove it

LLMs have so squarely proved retard maxing it’s not even funny these things aren’t smart they just don’t not try. they never talk themselves out of a path, they take all paths power takes all paths

Interesting to see how the AI companies are trying to make their apps feel more human, less alien. Muse has this cute little animated guy smiling all the time, ready to help you with anything. It feels friendlier and more relatable than a blank, sterile screen with an input. ChatGPT Computer Use shows a moving cursor as it’s working. It’s not technically required, but it makes the whole process less scary and easier to follow. It’s like the early iPhone days when things used to immitate real world objects so that an unfamiliar technology felt more intuitive and relatable. In this case we imitate presence, trying to give the AI a more human feel.

rupert is brilliant here. displays a calculated world model grounded in real context - revealing he truly cares about the individual whereas rogan talks about generalities grounded in his emotion - revealing he cares more about the idea makes you wonder the extent to which the american constitution has propped up its people, and the damage the british state has done to its' youtu.be/k29cMrVtVXY?si=_Fzn…
