This is the onboard from the Phantom Global Porsche, showing Loek Hartog rescuing Ollie Millroy. Just a warning that these images are pretty harrowing.
A statement of the Xiaomi China GT Championship reads among others that "rescue workers arrived at the scene of the accident at the earliest time".
It's clear though that Hartog was at the burning Ferrari for a full minute already, before the first marshal even shows up. The time between the impact and the marshals starting to extinguish the flames, is almost eighty seconds.
China GT do praise Hartog in their statement... But if eighty seconds is "the earliest time" for marshals to reach a burning car, that's not something to be thankful for, but it's something to be incredibly worried about. Especially, considering Millroy's Ferrari was really not that far away from a marshals' post.

Interessante cijfers.

A soldier ran up to a nun.
Out of breath, he asked,
"Please, may I hide under your skirt?
I'll explain later."
The nun agreed.
A moment later, two Military Police ran up and asked,
"Sister, have you seen a soldier?"
The nun replied,
"He went that way."
After the Military Police ran off,
the soldier crawled out from under her skirt and said,
"I can't thank you enough, sister.
You see, I don't want to go to war in Iran."
The nun said,
"I understand completely."
The soldier added,
"I hope I'm not being rude,
but you have a great pair of legs!"
The nun replied,
"If you had looked a little higher,
you would have seen a great pair of balls...
I don't want to go to Iran either!"

We stayed a little back. A little off the frontlines.
My 24-year-old lieutenant was killed.
Our female medic lost her leg.
Another buddy lost his eye.
My corporal was seriously wounded in his leg.
Our engineer lost his hearing.
My sergeant lost hearing in one ear and suffered multiple shrapnel wounds.
I myself was seriously wounded in my leg.
In the end, we lost five men during our mission that only lasted 4,5 months.
Fortunately, we stayed a little back. A little off the frontlines.
Can you imagine what would have happened if we had actually been on the frontlines.

Muziek verbindt! Positieve veiligheid.

Tomorrow will be 15 years since the trademark registration for 'SEO' was terminated.
@rhea spent two years and ~$17,000 fighting Jason Gambert, who essentially wanted control over who could sell SEOโข as a service.

SEO SaaS platform Semrush just announced their Q4, 2024 results.
I had to check: They spent ~$4.8M on acquisitions in the quarter*.
Some big news was that William Wagner will be taking over as CEO.
Here's the financial highlights:
- Revenue of $102.6M (up 23% YoY)
- ARR of $411.6M (up 22% YoY) ๐
- 144 Enterprise customers generate $9M in ARR
- Full year revenue of $376.8M (up 22% YoY)
- Customers paying >$10K annually grew 40% YoY ๐
- Non-GAAP income from operations of $11.8M
Semrush reported having "approximately 117,000 paying customers" which is the same as last quarter, but up 8% year over year.
They ended Q4 with 1M registered free active customers which is the same as Q3 and ~100,000 fewer than they reported in Q2.
There might be a logical explanation for this e.g. limiting the data you get for free.
*They spent $25.9M (net of cash acquired) on assets & businesses in 2024, of which around $4.8M was spent in Q4.
You may know they acquired the likes of Third Door Media (which includes Search Engine Land), Exploding Topics, Ryte & Brand 24.
As I say frequently, this is my passion and not my profession, so I don't know if they show all acquisition costs upfront or typically spread them out (and what else may be counted here).
Always do your own research and read from people smarter than me :).
They expect revenue to grow by around 20% in 2025.
I hope you found this interesting. Thanks for reading

BTW-verhoging?

Geen waterdichte verklaring maar gewoon wat observaties uit de praktijk ;
Wens me sterkte.
#onderwijs

Today Similarweb released a list of the 100 fastest-growing companies online for 2024.
Like last year, I've went through every single one to find the most interesting.
Not businesses I would build myself but Prose (3) and Boarderie (5) were the most memorable IMO. Super cool.

The CEO of personal finance giant NerdWallet just said "Q3 was pretty brutal as far as some of the headwinds we faced in organic search, especially in highly commercial areas".
Despite this, the company reported revenue of $191.3M, a 25% increase year over year.
Highlights from yesterday's earnings call include:
- $37.3M Adjusted EBITDA, up 19% YoY
- Average of 22M monthly unique users, down 7% YoY ๐
- Credit cards revenue declined 16% YoY
- Emerging verticals revenue (which includes insurance) grew 129% YoY ๐
- Their Smart Money podcast is now averaging 250,000 monthly downloads
- Cumulative register user base at 23 million members
Tim also noted that Q4 will likely reflect the full impact of search traffic challenges, especially on "learn" content, where a phrase like "How much should I save for retirement?" was given as an example.
I haven't really tweeted in a few months as I'm working on some big projects so it's nice to be back writing these up.
As always, this is my passion and not my profession so please do your own research if you're an investor. There's often more to the story than I can fit in a tweet.
I hope you find this interesting!
