It's an important announcement. The country has for a long time needed a stronger vocational pathway. Sure - there is a lot to get right, there are past mistakes to learn from, risks to avoid. It'll take detailed thought, hard work and time. But it's needed and do-able.

One the kindest, most decent, talented, human beings in Irish music. Always fun, always compassionate with a generosity of spirit that was truly inspiring. The music world has lost a legend today. Pic taken by her husband Tim. Heart going out to you all 💔Moya Brennan RIP

I know Christine Gilbert. She was the Head Teacher of the school where I was Head of English. I have confidence in her integrity and her dedicated professionalism. I await a thorough, evidence based and balanced report into Ofsted’s response to the tragic death of Ruth Perry.

Lately most conversations with leaders in NHS, schools, job centres & other frontline services end with a sense they’re being asked to do more than provide their basic service. Teachers are social workers. Doctors are teachers etc. A challenge but, properly coordinated, a huge opportunity to give targeted support.

As Gareth says ...
National Professional Qualifications will no longer be fully funded by the government from next year.
@GarethConyard tells @tes “Any reduction in NPQ funding feels short-sighted, especially in light of the latest recruitment and retention figures.”

Thank you Mark, this whole journey could never have happened without you. Your suggestion 'why not run a charity' and your guidance, Chairmanship, your support - I don't know where I'd be now without it.
