A week ago, Israel announced it would not allow more food into Gaza. Gaza is surrounded on all sides by Israeli forces and cannot import food any other way. And yet the potential forced starvation of a devastated population has barely registered anywhere.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry is lying.
No coordination was required, and we were never told that it was. We were not in a restricted security area. We did not pass any checkpoints.
Palestinian farmers do not — and should not — need permits to harvest their own olive fields. But they fear doing so, because the IDF doesn’t protect them from settler violence.
We’re trying to model solidarity & co-existence between Jews and Palestinians, and to call attention to the horrors of the occupation. The Israeli government is trying to foment violence between Jews and Palestinians, and to make it impossible for Palestinians to harvest their olive groves, drive on their roads, or live in their homes.
This was not about harvesting olives.
It was about harvesting headlines.
Brad Lander’s latest stunt is nothing more than a calculated political provocation.
Lander traveled to a foreign country, deliberately entered a restricted security area, and participated in an unauthorized activity without the required coordination.
What makes this stunt even more outrageous is that his own team contacted Israeli representatives in the United States ahead of his visit and was explicitly informed that proper coordination with the relevant authorities was required.
He chose to ignore those instructions.
At a time of heightened security tensions, Israeli security forces have a responsibility to protect lives, prevent dangerous incidents, and maintain public order.
Had anyone been injured as a result of his reckless political theater, Lander would undoubtedly have been among the first to demand that Israeli authorities intervene and provide protection.
Brad Lander came looking for a confrontation. Now he is pretending to be its victim.

El Frente Amplio tiene menos de un 5,6% de voto y 5 escaños. Podemos tiene 4,5 escaños.

Hacen tantas trampas que tengo que hacer una lista:
- Están metiendo la confluencia valenciana y la confluencia canaria en los votos del Frente Amplio, cuando tanto el Frente Amplio como Podemos participan de esas confluencias. Además, Podemos tiene mejores puestos en las dos confluencias que el Frente Amplio. Si hubiese que adjudicar esas dos confluencias a alguno de los dos bloques, sería a Podemos, en todo caso. Pero lo más riguroso es no adjudicarlas a ninguno de los dos. De hecho, en el propio artículo hay una gráfica en la cual se separa la confluencia valenciana y se afirma que tiene un 1,3% de voto. Dado que no especifican cuánto tiene la confluencia canaria, podemos deducir que el Frente Amplio tiene en realidad menos de un 5,6% de voto en esta encuesta.
- Están contando como escaños del Frente Amplio un escaño de Més y un escaño de Chunta Aragonesista. Ninguna de estas dos organizaciones forma parte del Frente Amplio, aunque se hayan coaligado con ellos para ir a las elecciones.
- Todavía más grave es que adjudican los dos escaños de Compromís y el medio escaño de Nueva Canarias también al Frente Amplio. Hablamos de medio escaño porque el puesto de salida de Las Palmas se reparte: la mitad de la legislatura para Nueva Canarias y la otra mitad para Podemos. Como ya hemos dicho, estas dos confluencias están participadas tanto por el Frente Amplio como por Podemos, con lo cual es completamente espurio adjudicar sus votos y sus escaños al Frente Amplio. Pero además, es que esos dos escaños y medio son de otros partidos.
- Por último, también están adjudicando al Frente Amplio un escaño de Podemos que está en Alicante y el medio escaño de Podemos de Las Palmas. A Podemos tampoco le están contando el escaño que sacaría por Barcelona en la lista de ERC.
- El reparto real de escaños, según los propios datos de esta encuesta, es el siguiente:

Earlier today, a number of harvesters, accompanied by dozens of individuals, arrived to conduct an uncoordinated olive harvest in an area near Beitar Illit. Harvesting in this area requires a request to be submitted to the relevant authorities in advance of the start of the olive harvest season. This coordination is necessary to ensure the security of the area and maintain public order.
Due to the security risk posed by conducting an uncoordinated harvest near an Israeli community, IDF soldiers, Border Police forces in Judea and Samaria, and officers from the Judea and Samaria District Police arrived at the scene and detained those present.
The landowner was informed that he must coordinate the olive harvest on his plot of land and was provided with the relevant contact information to arrange a harvest at a later date.
It should be emphasized that authorized olive harvests have taken place and continue to take place. To date, approximately 100 coordinated harvests have been conducted across Judea and Samaria, yielding many dozens of tons of produce, with security provided and coordination by the security forces, without any unusual incidents.
In areas designated for coordinated harvesting, only harvesters will be permitted to enter, solely for the purpose of harvesting.
As in previous years, security forces are working to facilitate a safe and orderly olive harvest season, with a firm commitment to enabling harvesting without unusual incidents or interruptions, alongside their ongoing defensive and counterterrorism missions.

One of the arresting officers shoved me, then showed me his bloody elbow and said I did it to him. (So if they take me next, that’s probably their pretense.)
