If I had known what a difference an N95 and air purifier could make in my overall health, I would have used them before Covid.
A respirator keeps me from getting sicker.
An air purifier reduces allergies, dust and MCAS symptoms.
We should want these tools in public spaces.

This is actually pretty unsettling.
Representatives from OpenAI and Meta just warned federal judges that AI-generated videos are becoming so convincing that we may eventually have no reliable way to tell whether they’re real.
And we’re not talking about somebody making a fake celebrity video on the internet.
We’re talking about evidence presented in court.
Imagine being on trial and someone introduces a video of you doing something you never actually did.
Or imagine a real video being dismissed as AI-generated.
Thankfully, this hasn’t become a widespread problem in courtrooms yet, but the federal judiciary is already trying to figure out how to handle it.
We’ve reached a point where seeing something with your own eyes might not be enough to know it actually happened.
That’s a hell of a problem.

The fact that we went from "Wikipedia is not a legitimate source of information" in school to "Just ask AI / ChatGPT to get it done" is actually really insulting to me frankly

Americans, you need to own this.
You are now allied with Russia, attacking Ukraine.
You need to own it and do something about it.
Not tomorrow.
Now.

If you go look
at the news

that the number
of measles deaths
is somehow
still only two.

I keep seeing clips
of a politician at a town hall
saying “I think the responsible
thing to do when you have
something like the flu
is to stay home
and not get other people sick,”
and I wish the next question
had been: “what will you do
to ensure everyone can do that?”

Mayor Zohran Mamdani has announced a $30 million investment in an NYU quantum lab, and in exchange for the investment from the city the university will give 15% of all profits back to the city.
This deal, the first of its kind secured in NYC history, will ensure that public investment actually gets generates wealth for public usage.
It's an important break from the public subsidizing the private sector, while a few private individuals reap the profits.

A photo of a bathroom is uploaded, and the system returns an exact street address.
Graylark Technologies sells an AI tool called Raven that geolocates interior pictures by matching features against millions of scraped real estate listings.
Graylark claims the system helps police locate trafficking victims.
People encounter this when any indoor photo goes online.
By scraping Zillow and Airbnb in violation of their terms, Raven turns temporary real estate photos into a permanent surveillance database, exposing homeowners without their knowledge.
While marketed for severe exploitation cases, Graylark recently demonstrated the AI tracking people who vandalized a street camera, showing police will expand its use.
Anyone whose home was listed online is now permanently cataloged.
No law stops police from using commercial algorithms to bypass physical warrants.

How on earth did I miss this article earlier this year?
Hospitals absolutely riddled with airborne Covid.
Not surprised to see the tea room is bad.
Also they missed a trick not testing stair wells.
CO₂ levels there are often filthy.

Brazil just abolished the six-day workweek.
Lula had pledged to take the country's workweek down to 40 hours of work with no reduction in pay, and now this new norm has passed in the form of a constitutional amendment.
It's a big win for the people of Brazil, and for Lula, who faces the final round of the presidential election in 10 days.
