You have been telling people how to vote in the referendum for weeks! LOL. What a joke!!
Thank you Keith
There are now TWO serious fiscal analyses Albertans can examine.
The UCalgary report models a “difficult” scenario involving hostile negotiations, much higher trade costs, higher borrowing costs and other adverse assumptions.
The new ATC analysis asks a different question: using revenues Alberta already generates, can Alberta pay for existing services AND the additional functions of a country?
Its answer, under its assumptions:
$22.2B–$32.1B surplus left over annually.
Even after layering in $13.5B/year of independence-specific adverse costs:
$8.7B–$18.6B remains.
Read both reports. Look at the assumptions. Then compare the numbers. albertatransitioncouncil.com…

Liberals: “We don’t have to worry about the US diversifying Potash supplies from Canada. Belarus is too far away. It’s too expensive to ship. We have an ocean between us.”
Also the Liberals: “We will be joining the EU to diversify away from the US.”
They don’t even see it.
Wild… the Mayor has a few things he needs to take a stand on! Imagine getting taxed to oblivion and when you vote - he decides it doesn’t matter!
I voted no to the crazy zoning approach and was glad it was taken back! Hopefully not temporarily….
There is a letter from the federal housing minister to Mayor Farkas that I think more Calgarians should read, and I have highlighted the part that matters.
Ottawa approved our third Housing Accelerator payment and then attached conditions to the final one, which is worth roughly $65 million, and to collect it council has to allow four units on a significant majority of lots across the city before October 27. Council already spent eight days in public hearings this spring and voted twelve to three the other way, with the repeal taking effect on August 4.
I build homes for a living, so I am not arguing against density or against building more, but the shape of this deal bothers me, because money that came out of Calgarians' pockets is being offered back on the condition that Calgary reverses a decision Calgarians turned up to make.
Would you take the money?
This tariff war with the USA is interesting. If we didn’t tariff ourselves so much with the carbon tax or the “price of pollution,” I might be more frustrated about @realDonaldTrump tariffing Canada.
When you wage war on your own citizens over natural resources your country can produce, why do Canadians get so angry when he tariffs those resources leaving our country?
The USA needs some of our exports, but let’s figure it out internally first.
The carbon tax is a self-imposed tariff. Dump it.
MrsTwitt and I are new to this whole thing and planning some mountain hiking with the grandchildren.
Quick question for the experienced Bitcoiners:
How much bear spray should we apply to the kids?
Just the exposed skin, or should we hit the clothing too? Recent events make us feel like we should lather them up but open to suggestions.
We just want to keep the next generation safe from the bears.

People still argue about whether Bitcoin is “money” or “just an investment.”
Meanwhile institutions are buying it, nation-states are stacking it, and the monetary premium keeps expanding.
You don’t have to win the argument.
You just have to own the asset.
I know we are all excited about the Bitcoin pump… but I worry about all the pollution that’s being generated by the miners right now!
Environmentalist must be in shambles!!

Off topic a bit.. but perhaps a good distraction.
Check this out.. left is Beef from Australia - Right is Beef from Canada.
I guess I may start saying a friendly G’day instead of Hello when greeting people! Will have a little more Aussie in me than normally
Crazy that Aussie beef costs so much less! Any Australians on here that can shed some light on how much they pay back home! Carnivore diets become much more economical!
Been an interesting few days in the world of Bitcoin.
I dodged a bullet - Have an MK4 that I bought for my first Bitcoin purchase. I had some Bitcoin on it for a few years but realized that I needed something simpler for MrsTwitt to understand. So I stacked in other places, lucky for me.
Self custody was and still is the most intimidating thing about Bitcoin for me. Now I have to question my approach and am I doing enough to keep it secure.
In a bear market, the price stays a bit lower, but once we have a raging bull market our sats become more of a target - the Risk vs Reward changes.
So, once again I’m looking for ways to keep myself progressing with Self Custody and thought I would go back to my roots and start using Testnet sats to learn with.
Rather than explain it all again.. I am attaching a previous post in hopes that I can help members of this community in some small way.
If you lost any sats I am truly sad and sorry for your loss.
Take a ride on Testnet… experiment and regain your confidence. Self custody will likely evolve, but the core principles will likely remain the same!

If you're nervous about self-custody, check out this thread introducing Testnet! Self-custody is a foundational principle for Bitcoiners. It was one of the most challenging things for me to get comfortable with when I started stacking sats.
It can feel overwhelming and risky, but it doesn't have to be!
With Testnet, you can learn to hold and move Bitcoin without risking a single real dollar.

"Every creature in the universe, every bird in the trees, every fish in the seas, has to live with scarcity, maximizing use of scarce resources."
"The only creature who doesn't do that, is the politician, because he's always using someone else's money."
This was said by Pierre Poilievre on his recent podcast with Joe Rogan.
Pierre is the Canadian politician who ran for Prime Minister and unfortunately lost to Mark Carney!
He also publicly said to all of Canada - Buy Bitcoin as a store of value!
BItcoin Fixes this. Only 21 Million - EVER!
Well Army friends... anyone going to do this to power their bitcoin miner. I'm sure a couple of motor size updates and you could be mining bitcoin for FREE!

Here's what the Liberty Engine does on camera:
1. Manual start — spin the rotor
2. Neodymium magnets generate voltage in transformer coils
3. Voltage feeds back to the motor
4. Motor keeps rotor spinning
5. Excess power goes to output sockets
6. Powers a TV, grinder, hair dryer, heater — for 2+ hours straight
They filmed a continuous 2-hour test. No external power. No hidden wires.
