We were today delighted to host Hon. Susan Nakawuki Nsambu, State Minister for Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, for her maiden visit at Uganda Tourism Board office. The team had the opportunity to engage with her on the strategies and shared ambition for driving Uganda’s tourism agenda. Under the NDP IV tourism is ear marked as a key driver of economic growth, foreign exchange earner, employment creator that will ignite private sector investment.

We made destination marketing experiential at Magical Kenya. Bringing the REAL Uganda to life through our cultures, cuisines, people, and authentic experiences. And this is just the beginning! We’re taking this energy to expos across the world, giving Uganda the visibility it deserves. Our goal? To have every corner of the internet buzzing with Uganda content until the world can’t help but #ExploreUganda the Pearl of Africa. 📸 @MikeSsebalu

Every Independence Day is another reminder that we are free to explore, experience and fall in love with Uganda. And this Independence weekend, I have one simple reminder: Uganda is the Pearl of Africa, and there is so much waiting for you to discover! From the world’s largest population of mountain gorillas to the primate capital of the world, from over 50 diverse tribes and rich cultural traditions to the source of the mighty River Nile, Uganda is a destination full of extraordinary experiences. And then there is Kampala, our ever-buzzing, ever-blazing city, where the energy, warmth, food, music and nightlife keep you wanting more! Beyond these are breathtaking landscapes, beautiful lakes, incredible wildlife, welcoming communities and countless hidden gems waiting to be explored. This Independence weekend, do more than celebrate Uganda. Experience Uganda. Take that road trip. Visit that national park. Explore a new town. Taste a local dish. Learn a new cultural story. Support a local tourism business. We have a beautiful country worth discovering, and the adventure doesn’t always have to begin far from home. Happy Independence Day, Uganda. #UgandaAt64 #ExploreUganda

5. Value your services Nairobi reminded me that services have value and people are willing to pay for them. I left Magical Kenya having learnt, benchmarked and unlearnt so much. Most importantly, my mind was buzzing with fresh ideas.
4. Digital adoption is a mindset My conversations with the Tour Operators Society of Kenya reinforced the importance of integrating digital tools across tourism operations, from bookings and communication to marketing. Adaptability is a competitive advantage

One thing I value about Tourism & Trade Expos is the “SEMINAR COMPONENT The exhibition floor visibly shows you what the sector offers BUT The conversations on the panels help you understand where the sector is going. @MKTravelExpo delivered on this front. #ExploreUganda

I again travelled for #MKTE2026, with one major goal: to learn how Kenya runs its tourism business. Kenya’s marketing aggression & business approach offer valuable lessons that i can never get tired of benchmarking, to find new ways to grow my career in Uganda’s tourism sector.

Here were my takeaways; 1. Infrastructure matters Kenya’s expanding road network reminded me that tourism growth requires more than marketing. Better roads mean easier access to attractions, shorter travel times, smoother tour logistics and potentially safer journeys.

Thanks for the kind words. Team work is key in pushing our destination forward.
When you see @francisnyende and @simplcious, just know Uganda is well represented. Over the past few years, we have watched the tourism game change, and this fantastic team has played a big part in that transformation. Their creativity, consistency and understanding of how to tell Uganda’s story to the world deserve recognition. We need more people who are passionate about marketing Uganda and turning our beautiful destination into a global conversation. I definitely need to engage more with Francis. I think I’ll have to invite him for a coffee ☕️ and table out a few ideas on where we can take this next.

Over the past few days, Uganda has been engaging one of our key regional source markets, Kenya, through the Magical Kenya Travel Expo (MKTE). But beyond showcasing Destination Uganda, this has been an opportunity to strengthen what we continuously advocate for: tourism collaboration and positioning East Africa as one interconnected travel experience. Led by the State Minister for Tourism, Hon. Suzan Nakawuki, the Ugandan delegation has engaged more than 40 Kenyan tour operators and travel trade partners, creating opportunities for new partnerships, joint tour packages and increased travel between our two countries. Uganda has also been showcasing its diverse experiences, from wildlife, primates and adventure to culture, heritage, coffee, culinary and community tourism. As we look towards AFCON 2027, regional collaboration becomes even more important. With travellers expected to move across our three host countries and beyond, this is an opportunity to collectively showcase the richness of East Africa. Today, we are winding up with partnerships, business opportunities and championing an East Africa that travellers can experience as one. #MKTE2026 #ExploreUganda

On the sidelines of the Magical Kenya Tourism Expo, I engaged with CNN and participated in media interviews aimed at increasing international publicity for Destination Uganda. The engagements have provided an opportunity to showcase Uganda as the Pearl of Africa. Strategic engagement with global media platforms such as CNN is an important part of Uganda’s destination marketing strategy. By telling our story to international audiences, we continue to position Uganda as a compelling destination for travellers seeking authentic, diverse and unforgettable African experiences. As Uganda continues to strengthen its presence in key African and international tourism markets, strategic media partnerships will remain critical in driving awareness, consideration and visitation to the Pearl of Africa. #ExploreUganda

Uganda has officially secured the right to host Future Hospitality Summit Africa (FHS Africa), Feb 2–3, 2027 in Kampala. This isn't just another conference. It's where hotel giants like Accor, Hilton, Marriott & IHG meet investors, banks, and governments to decide where Africa's next hospitality dollars go. Kampala's skyline may still be low-rise but that's the opportunity, not the drawback. The real question isn't who's coming. It's: what will Uganda be ready to show them? Tour operators, Hotel Owners, Young Creators and the whole sector, lets all get ready, the opportunity is here. #FHSAfrica #ExploreUganda
