I worked at Deloitte for four years, it's simple: We are thought leaders who create shareholder value through superior client service.
I still have no idea what these people do

Counterpoint: You didn’t “civilize” your boyfriend, he satiated your neuroticism. Women are more neurotic, thus less tolerant of certain things not going their way, like social niceties or home decor. I AM this woman! I make my boyfriend’s life prettier and cleaner, but this is largely for my benefit. I don’t need to flatter myself by thinking my neuroticism is a superior sensibility that civilizes degenerate men. This is important because it prevents me from being resentful when some of these preferences aren’t met. Instead of thinking my partner “uncivilized”, I realize we have different preferences and sensitivities for those preferences going unmet. Men generally care less about how suitcases are packed or whether their towel is on the floor, so they give in when women do. If both sides are reasonable, both will benefit—no self-righteousness necessary. This moralized conceptualization of what are essentially basic sex differences encourages women to think of themselves as long-suffering under-appreciated saints, which is an unpleasant mindset and makes the reality of a relationship seem unduly negative.
Men are changed by women, often for the better. And a civilized man is a gift women give to one another, but rarely acknowledge.

Most beliefs are self-validating “Angry people look for problems and find them everywhere, happy people seek out smiles and find them everywhere, pessimists look for trouble and find it everywhere. Brains are good at filtering inputs to focus on what you want to believe.” — @morganhousel

This typewriter (yes, that's what it is) belonged to Nietzsche. I've no idea how it works and suspect if I tried typing anything, I'd soon come to the conclusion that there is no God.

Are men less likely to call female scientists "Dr"? scicurious.org/i-went-viral-… Not in this case. @scicurious puts her preconceptions to the test, discovers she was wrong, then sets the record straight. 👍

Once had client whose case was he had NOT been in Morrisons car park. OIC gave evidence, & let slip that he'd viewed undisclosed Car Park CCTV. "Did you see Def?" "No sir" "Did you look at whole recording? "Yes sir." "So why didn't you disclose the disk?" "Becos he wasn't in it" xitter.cf/defencebrief/status/95…

This is your annual reminder that economics was first called "the dismal science" by someone who didn't like what economists had to say... namely by Thomas Carlyle in 1849 calling for the return of slavery, which most economists of that time strongly opposed. (H/T Econlog.)

Just received a profanity laced email that ended with “...so go back to the sewer you crawled out of.” I don’t really agree with most of the content but pretty cool that someone thinks I’m a Ninja Turtle.

Honda UK telling MPs it imports 2 million components a day from Europe on 350 trucks and holds 1 hours worth of stock. It would take 18 months to put customs admin in place but every 15 minutes of delay would cost £850,000 a hour. That's not including WTO tariffs of 10% and 4.5%.
