Jamaican psychological thriller Stew Peas is set to make history as the first Jamaican film to be distributed by Caribbean Cinemas, with a simultaneous theatrical release across seven Caribbean territories on October 29.
Written, directed and produced by Sosiessia Nixon-Kelly, the film will be screened in Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Antigua, Guyana, St Lucia, St Kitts and the US Virgin Islands.
The milestone comes as the film celebrates six nominations at the inaugural Caribbean Film Awards, including individual recognition for Nixon-Kelly in the Best Director category and Kerry-Ann ‘Chiney K’ Collins for Best Actress.
The regional expansion follows the film's successful run in Jamaican cinemas and paves the way for a limited US theatrical release in January 2027.

Jealous. Would have loved to have done this interview. One of my releases of the year, too 👇

#BannedBooksWeek2026 is in full swing. Book bans are real. They are still here and not always in the places you would expect.
This year, we reported how a school library in Greater Manchester underwent a purge in which 130 books were targeted.
