Uniqlo email describes a new collection as "inspired by British Modernism." I click, expecting radical irruptions of form and content, densely allusive polyvocal collage, the inescapable trauma of WWI, a crisis of faith under capitalism, fascism's pull. But it's just trousers.

A lovely review of BitBH. One statement I disagree with, though: “Kasper is generally oblivious to the dangers and worries which swirl around him...” Not the case. Look closely at his unique ‘language’ and you’ll discover he is keenly aware.

Happy Australian book birthday for my 2022 novel, Boy in the Blue Hammock (although, due to being imported, it’s more like a stork delivery than an actual birth). I hope it finds a few readers.

Ever wondered how a QR code works?
No, me neither but it's low-key fascinating.
(Warning, there is some extremely nerdy shit here.👇 )

One month until Boy in the Blue Hammock is available in Australia. I’m going to go out on a limb and say you haven’t encountered a character like Kasper before, Oz friends and readers.

A prominent review out today of my novel Boy in the Blue Hammock regards my intellectually disabled, language-challenged protagonist — modelled on my young adult son — as “alien”, “disturbing”, and “barely human”. This is an opportunity for learning and conversation. 1/10

Hey Aussie friends! Boy in the Blue Hammock is available Down Under Oct 11. Have you pre-ordered your copy? It costs a few bucks more, but that’s because it’s fully imported, like a Lamborghini, or Jimmy Barnes, or the cane toad. Absolute top shelf!

Happy Canadian Independent Bookstore Day to all, and happy ‘Boy in the Blue Hammock’ book birthday to some dodgy Canozzie I vaguely know. Hanging out at my mighty local, @BlackBondBooks1 Ladner.

Mr Morrison, our family is not only blessed to have an autistic son, we’re blessed we had the facility to move to a country with better support for our autistic son. #auspol #AusVotes2022

I tell you, her works are trailblazing.

The mighty @simongroth and I were shortlisted in The Text Prize for our little fabulist fable ‘Concentrate’ back in 2009. A definite highlight on the writer resume. Emerging authors — get on it.

The $10,000 Text Prize is looking for an outstanding manuscript written for children or young adults! Published and unpublished writers of all ages are invited to enter works of fiction or non-fiction.

New blog post in the series tracing the journey of #BoyInTheBlueHammock. This one is about the failed guide dog that became part of our family and will now live forever on the page.

The Internet is rotting. This chart shows the percentage of links from all New York Times articles that still work. Over 25% of the links embedded in articles just seven years ago & 60% of older links, are now broken. And tweets & posts are more ephemeral! cjr.org/analysis/linkrot-con…

On this second adventure into the wild, may you make the world a little kinder, a little brighter, and a little less ‘other’.

Replying to @neilhimself
I struggle with this sometimes. There are some artists that I would love to have do a commission, but I default to thinking "they're super successful/too expensive for me/probably don't want me to bother them." I suppose it can't hurt to reach out and ask for rates.
