It's taken more than 5 years, but I finally have a separate website for my professional activity through Tintou Studio. tintou.simondickson.co.uk

There used to be a great little online PWA for doing this, but it went away - so I made a new one. If you're a track cyclist, you'll know why you need it.
Side project from our tech team: VeloTimer, a combined countdown timer & stopwatch, to help track cyclists preparing for standing-start events. Best feature: it can replicate the 'beep! beep! beeeeep!' pattern of various velodromes (with optional echo). velotimer.pages.dev

We just released v2.0 of Alpaca Issue Tracker for WordPress, with a feature from our science-fiction list: Fix With AI turns issue reports into draft code fixes with a single click. (Currently only supports GitHub & Claude, but we'll listen to feedback.) youtube.com/watch?v=iIOkZpqg…

Alpaca itself remains free and open source - although you may incur a cost through your use of AI platforms; and the feature is opt-in, shown only to the users you trust. More details in our blog post: alpacaissuetracker.com/posts…

Great work on this by my partners at @rareview - and special thanks to WP VIP's @whyisjake for helping us with the licensing on his agentic development template.

My confidence in AI these days: perfectly happy giving Luna full admin access to my wp-admin back-end and write access via REST API, to make a ton of metadata edits that I could never practically have found the time to do.

I should clarify, I'm checking and approving every edit visually before it happens. It's still taking a while. But not having to do all the searching, and typing, and saving... wow.

Time to get back into the WordCamp habit. I'm doing a flying visit up to Manchester for @wcmcr on Fri 6 Nov: 1st train out, 2nd-last train home (not risking it). Wonder how many of us are still around, & remember how these things work. #SayWhatYoureThinking #SoundsGoodToMe

That's the first MacOS upgrade I've done in years which didn't freeze, and need a manual 🤞 reboot.

Trump's latest rebrand: AI. He just told the UN: 'From this point forward, all of United States documents, and hopefully the the world will be changed to use the much more accurate term super as opposed to artificial. Welcome to the new world of superintelligence - SI.'

Too right from @Dannythefink politics is all about mood, creating narratives and persuading people in order to win arguments. We’d almost forgotten what good politics is until Burnham came along #earlydays
"Can I speak up for vibes?" @Dannythefink says 'vibes-based politics' can bring real political advantages, as Nigel Farage has shown. “[It can create] a group of people around you who really go out and fight for you.” 🗳️How To Win An Election 🎧pod.fo/e/5c56a2

I don't talk much about family/bike stuff on here... but this is my daughter, and she is Ireland's national elite-level keirin champion. ☘️ instagram.com/reel/DcY3DFhNh… Go and like her video, I can't tell you how much she deserves it. @CyclingIreland @sticky_bottle

Oh the irony of working on a service status (liveblog) plugin, whilst constantly refreshing the GitHub service status page to see when I can get back to work. At least it's giving me lots of ideas for features I'd like to see in a liveblog/status site...

I've had something of an obsession about liveblog plugins for WordPress for many years. I have a first working version of a brand new plugin, designed for Gutenberg, with optional use of Cloudflare. All the features you expect, plus a few new ideas. Anyone interested?

You wanna know where the name Code For The People came from? Me & Simon Wheatley spent months trying to find a name for our proposed agency. We both respected Automattic, so we tried spawning some ideas off that. I thought of the REM album, Automatic For The People. Yeah? Yeah.

I didn't love the name initially. But I liked how it held us accountable. You can't really betray your open source principles when they are literally the name of your operation. I did it again for my current company, Tintou. It references a U2 lyric: 'there is no them, only us.'

I watched the Code For The People movie. I'm not in it. Then again, nor is anyone else from the community who isn't on the A8c payroll. Which is a little awkward for a film talking up WP's community credentials.

It's well done, and I didn't hear anything I disagreed with. It just felt a bit like the video presentation before the CEO's keynote. And it's hard to disconnect it from, you know, all the recent unpleasantness.
