I will stop banging on about Timestalker. but I can`t thank enough people who worked on this project, friends, family who have supported me. people who have really `got` it. that it`s not a big Hollywood project. it's a labour of Love. it's fighting for a belief in something 🩷

Sadly, after the closure of #TotalFilm today is my last day at Future. I'm taking some time away from full time journalism to focus on what matters but rest assured I'm as film-obsessed as ever and will be posting here about everything I watch!

So many young people I meet who're getting into filmmaking are middle class/from uni/have family in the arts
If you don't come from those worlds, if you're working class + passionate about cinema, and wld like zoom chat, DM me
Am not offering work, just encouragement/perspective

Genuinely sad to think about what's happening to entertainment journalism and magazines in particular. What's sickening is that what's lost isn't being replaced by something better; a future of AI-generated slop beckons if something isn't done quickly.

Sadly, the news is true: the next issue of Total Film will be the last. I couldn’t be more proud of the magazine we’ve put out over my near-nine-years on staff, and can’t say enough good things about my colleagues @mattmaytum, @Totalfilm_MattL, @Lauren_M1les and Andy McGregor (and previously @janevgcrowther and @mike_brennan01) – they are brilliant and if you are in a position to commission, hire or work with them it will be the smartest decision you ever make.
The same goes for the many (many) exceptional contributors who featured on our pages over the years – far too many to list here. But a special mention for @jamie_graham9, whose columns and writings have been an unfailing joy to read and edit, partly because I didn’t have to change a word the entire time.
TF existed for almost two decades before I lucked out and joined the team, and we built our version of the magazine on the shoulders of giants. But I feel confident saying that the mag has rarely been better than it was in recent months, which is why the timing feels especially cruel. The good news is that we’re going out on a high, with an exceptional Gladiator II cover story written by our fearless leader @mattmaytum – more on that later this week.
Today was my last day, and I despair for the future of curated long-form film writing. Support it where you can, or you may find it no longer exists sooner than you think.
Gladiator II is on the cover of Total Film’s upcoming issue 356, which hits print and digital newsstands on October 10. It’s with a heavy heart that we announce that this will be the final issue of the print magazine.
We like to think that this final print edition is a showcase of everything that Total Film magazine strived for, with a thrilling blockbuster on the cover, A-list interviews, fair and impartial reviews, smaller interesting movies nestled alongside the more mainstream fare, and above all else a passion for cinema radiating out of every page.
In the cover feature, we’re talking to Ridley Scott, Paul Mescal, Denzel Washington and more about returning to the Colosseum for Gladiator II. From epic set pieces, to Scott’s unique approach to shooting, to Maximus’ legacy, it’s the perfect primer to this autumn’s most anticipated sequel.
Print subscribers will receive their issue with an exclusive cover shortly (and our subscriptions team will be in touch shortly to discuss next steps).
So for now, it only leaves us to say a huge thank you to all the staff, writers, designers and photographers who made Total Film print magazine what it was over the past 27 years. And we’d also like to express our endless gratitude to everyone who has read, subscribed to or otherwise supported the magazine.
While the magazine itself is going away, our archive content and expert movie and TV writing will continue to live on at gamesradar.com/totalfilm.

It was an absolute dream come true when I was welcomed onto the Total Film team in April. I haven't worked on the magazine long, but have cherished every single moment and feel very lucky to have spent time working on it with @mattmaytum, @JordanFarley and @Totalfilm_MattL.

Very sad to share this news. More to come from me later this week when we reveal the final covers, but for now I’ll just say it’s been the privilege of a lifetime to work on the mag with such an incredible team, including all those whose shoulders I stand on. A childhood dream fulfilled

I have also been made redundant by Gamurs and Twinfinite over a generic email when I woke up this morning.
I'll reach out for work opportunities properly once I've got my head around it, but if anyone has any freelance or full-time stuff, please reach out. RTs would be amazing!
