Blown away by the kind support for my upcoming book. The last two and a bit years was essentially me telling myself that nobody would care, or want to buy it. Writing 75000 words I was convinced nobody would ever see. So thanks for the love 🙏 Order: tinyurl.com/2s3pn7hm

Totally normal driving scenario.
Elon Musk's electric car manufacturer, Tesla, has unveiled what it calls a 'flying car'. On #BBCBreakfast Charlie & Naga looked at images of the two-seater Roadster - which has been developed in collaboration with the rocket company, Space X bbc.co.uk/news/topics/c8nq32…

How is it that more than half the private taxi plates I see in Manchester are from @KnowsleyCouncil and @WolvesCouncil? Long way from home lads. Is that why they never know where they’re going?

There are too many entertaining Pat Karney stories to list here but aside from the very obvious fun side of him, Pat was a very smart politician, a passionate supporter of Manchester and a joy to deal with as a journalist. He’ll be missed.

Red Star Paris currently sit at the top of Ligue 2, which definitely feels like a sign for you to go and buy the definitive book about the most interesting club in football and its recent chaotic ride. @WSC_magazine called it ‘absorbing.’ Good hey? tinyurl.com/ykth4tdd

When I see people trying to make it look like their interviewees are good friends, or acting like their talent interviews are somehow groundbreaking, earth-shattering, or saving journalism, it makes me cringe. It's gross, ethically questionable, and, honestly, a little unhinged.

18 months after meeting Simon Binns through the comms world, I’ve finally read Red Star Paris. By page 19, Oldham Athletic had a mention. 💙😂 A great read about football, community, identity & belonging. @PitchPublishing #RedStarParis @simonbinns #OAFC

The irony of a news org asking someone who breaches copyright and steals other news orgs’ work for green screen social posts to do a piece about the death of news orgs is pretty stunning tbh.
As local news budgets shrink and misinformation spreads, independent creators are stepping up to keep communities informed. With more than half a million followers, TikToker Andrew Barton is passionate about local journalism. Channel 4 News asked him to investigate what the future of local news looks like and whether new government funding can help keep it alive.

Surely if Man City get done for the 115 charges, Middlesbrough will be promoted to the Premier League in their place? Only fair really.

Always loved this band. Oft overlooked but a huge and important part of the Manchester music scene. Absolutely mega live. Interviewed them in a pub once and they were great fun.

Looks like the Trafford Centre Uniqlo opening date is mid October. Huge news for middle class dads inside the M60. Including me.

A superb read. UTB.
Teesside has long experience of being talked down. The place once stood for steel, iron, coal — industry. Over 40 years that status has disappeared with the industries themselves. Teesside instead saw itself as half-forgotten by government, then the butt of jokes and disparaging coverage. Recent events have only reinforced an impression of a beaten, wild area. But as a name with national recognition, what has endured is Middlesbrough FC. There was a palpable sense on Saturday that, but for Boro’s late winner against Norwich, the mood across the region would have plummeted. It can sound overblown, but what you saw with Ashley Phillips’ 91st-minute winner was just how much Teesside hope, self-esteem and identity are invested in the football club. There are no claims that football means more on Teesside, just that, as @mwalker2771 writes, at a time like this its presence is enhanced. 🔗 nyti.ms/4yI3gnE

Another reminder of being old. Server at the cafe I’m in gave me a bent spoon. ‘Looks like Uri Geller’s been at your cutlery.’ Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Middle class parents naming their kids is a national crisis. Seen so many Arlos, Milos and Barnabys during a week off in Cornwall. Even a Silas. Where are the Trevors? The Keiths? The Colins?
