1-2ms to launch a micro VM would indeed open up a lot of possibilities, whilst still having hypervisor grade isolation - sounds pretty amazing

💯 to @mipsytipsy's view that the work of a software developer is >> writing code. 🧵
The advance of LLMs and other AI tools is a rare opportunity to radically upend the way we talk and think about software development, and change our industry for the better. The way we have traditionally talked about software centers on writing code, solving technical problems.

It's amazing how much Oracle has improved and simplified the upgrade process over the last few years. I expect it Just Works™ for the vast majority of installations too!

After Google's recent layoffs impacted open-source maintainers, I was curious about the state of OpenTofu, a project forked from Terraform six months ago with significant pledges of support. leanercloud.beehiiv.com/p/cu…

Since early 90s, I'm hearing that software engineers will be replaced by machines one way or the other. Since then, the demand for software engineers only exponentially increased. Builders will keep building, occasionally with newer tools.

Very interesting session by @re_cinq at #KubeConEU about carbon intensity of IT workloads & potentially dynamically shifting them to regions with cleaner power

TIL that adults are actually better at learning languages than children. Loving this talk from @KFosterMarks, comparing second language acquisition to fluency in learning programming and “speaking code” @monkigras

With all the AI hysteria I'm looking forward to some more balanced views on how it can enhance, rather than replace, developers at Monki Gras this week. monkigras.com
Monki Gras, the tech conference about Software, Craft, and Tech Culture, returns March 14th and 15th. The theme this year is Prompting Craft: the art of the prompt in code and cultural creation.
