It started with Sad Puppies, and from that time in the early 2010s, unless you were a 'minority' (inc women!), or you were guaranteed bank (established authors, or 'celebrities'), you were unlikely to get a publisher. New (white male) authors have effectively been frozen out. Self publishing via Amazon then becomes the only real viable option - though that does require you do your own marketing. Completely unrelated, I did write a book on 'how to save Britain' in 2024... Much of the contents of which now finds itself in the current discourse. Such as:

The Vikings raided our shores, kidnapped the women, and settled in Iceland. To the point that 60% mitochondrial DNA in Iceland is from the British Isles.

Whereas incitement to murder is A.OK. Because that isn't offensive.

Bought a cheap Philips G7000 (Odyssey II) Videopac console, like the one I used to own in the early 80s, expecting it to be 'fun' to repair. It only works.

It is quite ugly. No doubt when the shut Parliament for the £100bn renovations, the temporary Parliament will be in a building like this: Shame they tore down the old Birmingham Library, that would have fitted Burnham's 70s soviet vibe.
