My father, Leonard Harold Simkin of Blessed Memory, left this world on October 3, 2026 which was 22 Tishri, on the Jewish holiday of Shemini Atzeret (the "Eighth Day of Assembly"), which immediately follows the seven-day festival of Sukkot. Our family is forever grateful for the outpouring of caring, love, support and prayer from family and friends alike. Today I went to morning prayers at Chabad Lubavitch of Camden and Burlington Counties, NJ where I reconnected with G-d serveral years ago to say Kaddish for my father. About the Mourner's Kaddish: One of the most sacred rituals observed by all Jews throughout the generations is the practice of reciting the Mourner's Kaddish prayer for the merit of the departed soul of one's father or mother. It is said at the funeral, during the week of mourning (shiva), for the following 11 months, and then every year on the anniversary of passing. I am blessed to have walked into Chabad in Cherry Hill where I was first embraced by Laizer Mangel the moment I walked in the door, and then Mendy Mangel , Yakov Mangel , and the entire Mangel family along with the entire congregation.
