This is an incredible Kahneman lecture, if you haven't read it, on the "15 point IQ gain", as he puts it, when people are defending their views against potentially contrary evidence. edge.org/adversarial-collabo…

A common security anti-pattern is circular security dependency, where a component that provides security functionality to a larger system is dependent upon that larger system. This is the opposite of the security properties of a traditional OS kernel vs. user mode and is fragile.

I started in tech when it was 28.8k modems on a desk and harvest proxy that died every. Fscking. Night. Since then, lots has happened, and in particular I've watched from afar as security became a whole deep field of its own.

I'm feeling the fear of leaving my comfort zone more than I ever have before, for various reasons, but also excited to dive into an area that's held a lot of appeal for me for ages. And I figure platform could do with some security mixin anyway :)

So, bye bye principal engineer for developer platforms and infrastructure, hello security architect (or, as a friend puts it, time to go be Wreck It Ralph in security ;)
