Most housebuilders do not have shareholders. Those businesses also train 80% of construction apprentices, build our social homes & provide market competition.
But yeah, let’s all focus on the 1% & ignore systems thinking!
#PersimmonSyndrome is pervasive (& ignorant).
Yesterday was the first time in 11 years i asked a qu at a party conference fringe event & heard some boos, with many gasps & tuts.
The event was about building social homes and my proposal would add tens of thousands annually but is an ideological challenge.

Sadly, Britons are wrong! But likely not for the reasons most people think!
For example, the biggest biodiversity policy (BNG) doesn’t have a species multiplier but kills new homes! And the loudest voices to change that have been housebuilders! 🤷🏼♂️

I can get you more money, @WoodlandTrust but you’d need to support our #BuildingInBiiodiversity strategy, which puts biodiversity strategy at the heart of BNG!
Not likely going to be able to ask a question but I was going to ask whether @Jenny4SuffCoast @ @tobyperkinsmp would reform BNG. Re:@nfbuilders campaign, so that it actually supports species recovery, rather than being Habitat Net Gain as a tickbox exercise?…..
Craig Bennett saying that the regurgitation of the embellished lie, re: nature blocker to housing, was very wrong….it was, as wrong as the lie that it didn’t block housing!
The truth requires nuance and honest analysis, not grandstanding!

I’m lost, @BBCRadio4, why is it bad that disadvantaged students get nudged to vocational education?…..surely the danger is that non-disadvantaged students have their bubble burst about academia?
Get me on the chat about this, re:construction, tomorrow AM!
Apparently the train was diverted and the next stop isn’t London Bridge but instead, Blackfriars.
It’s Britain 2026 when you can’t hit the brakes because the computer says no.

Some very knowledgeable faces on the panel discussion about social housing! Kate Henderson @natfednews, Hannah David, Planning Futures and Andrew Taylor, Vistry.
Strong desire for the delivery of social housing was the mainstay of the discussion.
Govt policy has hollowed out the sector, so clearly donations havent worked! Plus, most reforms are argued by non-donating housebuilders!
On council homes; let's build them! But to do that we must change the system & NOT forcing builders to build them would form part of that!
I’ve seen some poor #Newsnight episodes which also missed the point but good gosh, tonight has been something else.
80% was pure echo chamber conversation, with no challenge from a typically great Vic D.
Mick Lynch is typically a great performer but on @BBCNewsnight, he exampled himself as totally out of touch on the reality of business costs and wages.

Head of Policy and Market Insight at the National Federation of Builders Rico Wojtulewicz, says decades of anti-business governments have made it tougher and tougher for people to hire.

The best and worst fight I’ve seen in boxing.
It is obvious why Dubois lost to Usyk. Clear why Wardley is dangerous. And Dubois is showing that he has taken in and learnt from his experience against pugilists.
Great watch.
Wardley can’t see properly. His team need to throw the towel in. He can take the punches but there’s no bloody need for him to.
