Thursday's 8-3A title game left me thinking about how well both teams played and comments Carter Steffensmeier and Myles Sansted had after a tough loss. I wrote a column about what I enjoyed so much about it that had nothing to do with who won or lost. bit.ly/36aRM4i

Daniel Jackson fakes the onside kick to the right and Myles Sansted kicks it to the left. It takes a perfect bounce, and the Cardinals recover it at the Bemidji 42 with 2:47 left.

The boys move to 11-1-2 with a 1-0 win over Tech!! Great team defense for the shutout win.

Neat local angle to Alexandria's Myles Sansted, who hit the game winning three pointer to beat Richfield yesterday in the state semis. His parents met an NDSU summer basketball camp, his grandfather lives in Fargo. His aunt is former #NDSU basketball standout @MoVigs.

Myles Sansted ran off the court after the game to point to his mom, dad and grandma in the crowd: "My dad has been a coach my whole life,” Sansted said. “My mom and dad met coaching basketball, so basketball is just in my blood. I’m just really thankful for that and my family.”

Alexandria went through a three-game stretch where it allowed 74.7 points-per game after allowing just 49.8 the first nine games. The Cardinals got back to defending at a high level on Thursday, and a boost from the bench led them over Fergus Falls. bit.ly/3dNgppd
