Afghan policy has shaped Pak politics & establishment has quietly declared it a failure. pro-establishment lobby is trying to paint terrorism as cultural expression of Pashtuns, idea behind is to give a bailout to establishment, which crafted it all alone dawn.com/news/2037978

Everything would've been much easier if Pakistanis had supported operations against terrorists once it became clear that the state had learned from its mistakes. You can't keep hiding behind the excuse of "muhhh, but the state is also responsible for this." That's an argument about accountability, not about how to fix the situation. If you genuinely cared about accountability, you'd be demanding treason charges against not only the generals who pushed for the rehabilitation of the TTP on Pakistani soil, but also Imran Khan and your other favourite politicians who supported those policies. But clearly, accountability isn't your priority when it involves people you support. More importantly, accountability and correction are two different things. Right now, correction must take priority. The necessary course of action is to dismantle the terrorist networks and eliminate the threat. Those who knowingly support or facilitate terrorists must also be dealt with, while those responsible for obstructing legitimate operations should be held accountable. It would've been much easier if Pakistanis had understood their own interests. I blame the state for years of brainwashing and misleading the population, but I also blame Pakistanis for being so stubborn and unwilling to think independently. You also need to take responsibility for opposing operations against terrorists simply because a false Messiah told you to. That's stupidity, and collective stupidity produces collective consequences. Above all, it is absolutely essential that Pakistan resolves this Afghanistan-related security mess before the next stage of global geopolitics takes shape. Pakistan cannot afford to enter that period with these vulnerabilities still unresolved. If you fail to correct things now, you may find yourselves facing consequences that you are simply not equipped to handle. And even trying to fix things now comes with potentially huge consequences, especially given the timing. I hope paralysis doesn't continue and that things finally start moving. Good luck.

In today’s episode of “Things that never happened”:

Houthis said they will impose a no fly zone over Saudi and then backed it up by carrying out one of the deadliest attacks in Saudi history, targeting Riyadh airport. The Houthis may be backward savages who are high on khat all the time but their capabilities - transferred to them by Iran - are very much real and a serious threat. It is only a matter of time before the Taliban regime in Afghanistan also gains similar capabilities, especially now that it has backing from Russia and India. The Taliban regime also continues to maintain close ties with the IRGC. If there's any country which has a direct interest in preventing those capabilities from ever reaching the Taliban, it is Pakistan, which is the primary target of the Taliban and its various affiliated jihadi groups. If Pakistan fails to halt/rollback Taliban's military capabilities, it will pay in both blood and soil.
