This #bbcqt audience member (how did he get in?) absolutely nails it on Brexit.
“The Remainers never accepted the result.”
“The Brexit we voted for wasn’t delivered and left us in a half way house.”
“The EU is crumbling and our future doesn’t lie within it.”
A fine summary.

Just remember, all of the MPs calling for state pension reform, won't ever have to rely on a state pension

This would be a good policy.
As it is fine for pensioners to survive on £12,500 a year, let's cap all benefits at the same amount.
In addition, let's cap the wage of all politicians at the same amount, including local government and civil servants.

Comrade Burnham set to punish those horrible old people who don't vote Labour by scrapping the pension triple lock. Labour's hatred of the elderly continues apace. Who's the nasty party now?

State pension is not a “benefit”.
It’s not free money or charity.
You pay into the system your entire working life.
It’s deferred wages you earned.
Stop treating it like a handout.

The State Pension is one of the foundational stones of the UK welfare state. Conceived universally in the 1942 Beveridge Report and established by the National Insurance Act 1946 and has being legally classed as a benefit from day one in 1948.

If @andyburnham is seriously considering scrapping the triple lock it will be an act of electoral suicide. Why does this Labour Government hate pensioners so much?

Today's Poll: Would you support scrapping State Pension triple lock (amount its guaranteed to rise by) to pay for universal social care?
NB. This is a vibe question. There are many other routes, options & things money could go to. Yet given a straight choice what's your view?

The average household bill will be a horrifying £1,723.
This is the Government’s choice. Green levies could be removed from bills tomorrow.
But Labour prefers to pursue Net Zero and let pensioners die of cold.

Labour are finally starting to take the economy seriously, by looking at a policy Reform has been pushing.
Raising the tax-free personal allowance to £15,000 would put more money back into people’s pockets.
It won’t erase whatever tax rises come at the next budget, but it does show just how much Reform’s tax proposals are influencing the debate.

It’s reported that Burnham is considering adopting Reform’s policy to raise the tax-free personal allowance to £15,000.
Good.
But that can’t be funded by more taxes elsewhere. Welfare reforms are the only answer.

The state pension from the DWP is currently on course to increase by 3.9% in April 2027 under the triple lock. That would take the annual payment to around £13,036, putting it above the standard £12,570 Personal Allowance for the first time. Pointless Unless Tax Threshold Is Increased To £15k!
Vote Reform!
