The long run goal is to help people with relevant life experience get into leadership roles, whether that's as PIs or supervisors, etc, and we as academics can provide that friendly, frank window into how to do that. Takes time but is so worth it to enrich study and service.

If @NYTimesGuild members don't have a deal soon, we’re asking readers to not engage in any @nytimes platforms tomorrow and stand with us on the digital picket line! Read local news. Listen to public radio. Pull out a cookbook. Break your Wordle streak.
Walking's already our favorite pastime, so what's better than doing it with all our new friends? @Picketdogs

I can't wait to return to my research. (I will.) But it has been such a heartening experience to stand together on the picket line with fellow workers in departments across UC Berkeley to fight for contracts that will transform academia at the UCs and beyond. 1/5

Our campuses talk a lot about diversifying graduate programs, but these conditions make grad school almost impossible for people from poorer communities of color. If you really believe in DEIBJ initiatives, this is the biggest one there is.
Endlessly proud of this community!

On #immunitydebt
1- public health measures have limited exposure to diseases for a century. Yet, the phrase immunity debt just recently popped. When public health measures stopped exposure to waterborne diseases, people just lived longer, no faulty claims of immunity debt.
This is the correct number of focus and productivity apps, right #AcademicTwitter?
I’ve gone by Shelley for 25yrs, but I love that my loved ones still call me Michelle. I’m a morning person who struggles to wake up. Jazz music while folding laundry at night makes me feel like a grown-up in a good way. Happy people bring me joy.
