I've had some time to sit and think over the last week about the govt's decision to raise visa fees, amongst other things that have happened this year. I've come to a few angry and depressed conclusions -🧵:
1/ 🚨BREAKING: 60 unions & migrant orgs have come together to call out this Govt’s plan to stoke divisions in our workforce & communities by funding a public sector pay rise through racist NHS & visa fee hikes. Solidarity wins! ✊🏽#TogetherAgainstCharging
ALT ALT TEXT: Over a black and white photo of a banner that says "Our NHS Stop Charging Migrants", blue and pink text in a pale green box reads the following announcement: Unions unite with migrant organisations to call out government plan to fund pay rise with higher migrant fees. All workers deserve decent pay, but this should never come off the backs of migrants, or be used to stoke division in our workforce & communities.

This year the government will give the UK’s banks £45 billion they have done nothing to earn. That’s because of QE and interest rate rises. At the same time they say they can’t afford decent pay rises for nurses, doctors, teachers and others. This makes no sense. A thead….

And more mating hynenopterans, they look like Tenthredo, but I can't find a match on sawflies.org.uk. Very pretty and there were about 6 mating pairs on a single patch of buttercups. #wasps #sawflies #hymenoptera
