No European Champs this year which now makes it five years since the last Europeans (and minimum seven years until the next). No major champs this year for the majority of Para athletes. Not good enough. Very disappointing.

When we go to a restaurant, we’re asked, “Do you have any allergies?” How else would they know if someone has a nut allergy? We ask the question. We don’t assume. So why is this different when we’re talking about disabilities? 1 in 5 people globally have a disability, yet we still act like disabilities have to be visible before we ask if someone needs assistance. There have been many times I’ve been handed technology in stores that I can’t use due to being visually impaired. Even something as basic as a chip and pin reader. So it got me thinking… Why don’t we ask the question, “Do you have any accessibility needs?” Why do we assume that if we can’t see a disability, we shouldn’t ask? I want to start something. I want to start a movement. I want people to ask, “Do you have any accessibility needs?” And I want this to become standard practice. Make this the norm. #DoYouHaveAnyAccessibilityNeeds

I’ll be withdrawing from the World Championships later this month. I’m gong to take some time to myself so I can grieve the loss of my Mum. 💚
