The Maltese Falcon was released 85 years ago today! Starring Humphrey Bogart in his first leading role as private eye Sam Spade, the film became one of the defining classics of film noir. In the words of Bogie's famous ad lib, it was "the, uh, stuff that dreams are made of."

The late great David Axelrod explaining how he initially hated sampling for taking jobs from musicians – at least before Dre sampled him and allowed him to have "Screw You" money. Then he conducts "The Edge," the song looped for "The Next Episode."

Hahaha that's awesome. I'm glad that, at the end of the day, we can all just put on our white tie attire, go to our $5000 per person gala, and laugh about this whole "shooting a man in the neck with an AR-15 while his son was in the car" thing. Thank you, people's mayor!
“Things got a little hot for me this week...Anyone hiring?" NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch jokes at the Al Smith dinner, referring to Mamdani allies calling on him to fire her. Mamdani is sitting on the dais a few seats away from Tisch.

This is Antoine Semenyo hitting the second fastest speed of the season against Liverpool - 35.74 km/h. What’s really interesting about the clip is that Virgil Van Dijk - the chasing defender - hits 34.94 km/h on the same recovery sprint. And wins the challenge. He’s 35 years old.

Ryan, I trained with Pogba over the summer, i damn near cried in the car because i couldn’t mirror what he did in session, it was deflating realizing the enormous gap in quality & skill. I fucking suck ass compared to him & that hurts me.

It’s crazy how you had the quickest feet in the NFL .. and how soccer to you guys would be so different, footwork wise. But Chad you would believe in yourself surely if you practiced enough you could get it down..

When Winwood absconded with J.T. Lewis (drums) and Carl James (bass) I wasn’t given the courtesy of a phone call. My calls to both went unreturned. This was a week before a gig at Maxwell’s in Hoboken. This became @WillCalhounDrum’s 1st gig. His friend Billly Grant played bass.

He was a prodigy, and was referred to as “Little” Stevie Winwood in imitation of you know who. ’ve secretly wished for a collab by them for years.Their voices would have blended remarkably! Despite the fact that Winwood stole my bassist & drummer from an early version of LC.
The Spencer Davis Group. Traffic. Blind Faith. Then he played every instrument on ‘Arc of a Diver’ and gave us “Higher Love,” “Valerie” and “Roll With It.” Steve Winwood has spent 60 years making extraordinary music and is still underrated.

Zvonimir Boban turns 58 today. In his ten years at Milan, Italian reporters were struck by how well he spoke, and how much he knew about literature, history and politics. He had promised that he'd earn a university degree not long after retiring. He kept the promise. Boban studied history at the University of Zagreb. At 35, after four years of study, he graduated with a bachelor's degree. His thesis was on Christianity in the Roman Empire, supervised by Professor Petar Selem, a leading authority on the subject. By then he had won four Serie A titles and the 1994 Champions League with Milan, and captained Croatia to a third place at the 1998 World Cup, the country's first ever World Cup medal. Happy birthday, Zvonimir Boban.
