I asked Bonnie Greer to do a voice over for an ad once and, curious, she agreed. I knew her from TV and I was infatuated with her intellect and her dulcet drawl which she applied to my 10 second Panadol spot with alacrity. She was fascinated throughout and utterly charming. RIP.

Music to my ears - albeit 20yrs after Corston and 10 yrs after the closure of Holloway. But any steps forward will need to be taken away from HMPPS which remains intellectually bankrupt and operationally incompetent. theguardian.com/society/2026…

Ending the historic injustice of IPPs has been announced by the Prime Minister. A huge moment for IPP families and campaigners. Without all their hard work and determination, we would not be in this position today. independent.co.uk/news/uk/cr…

I can't think of anyone as wonderful in so many ways as Dolly – singer, songwriter, actor, raconteur, entrepreneur, philanthropist, educator, groundbreaker extraordinaire. And she went through life without a stain. Who does that? And who is EVERYONE'S hero? Love you Dolly

Lord Clarke of Nottingham, the former home secretary, told Times Radio on Sunday that he “never imagined” that 14 years after abolishing IPPs, 2,329 people would remain “indefinitely detained”, perhaps until the day they die: thetimes.com/article/ee2aa03…

We all know the long banned imprisonment for public protection sentence is inhumane. Another review will just kick the can down the road yet again. All Andy Burnham need to do is introduce a bill to re-sentence prisoners still serving IPPs. By me. theguardian.com/commentisfre…

Whilst the future of undercover police public inquiry is under threat due to its expense, we are reminded of just how important such an inquiry is to expose outrageous wrongdoing by police wasting millions of public money to protect themselves theguardian.com/uk-news/2026…

This is an extract from the amazing Hiroshima memoir by Kiyoshi Tanimoto, which was mysteriously buried in the archive of the writer John Hersey. (My interview with his fab daughter Koko, the baby of Hiroshima, is linked to it) theguardian.com/world/2026/j…

This was such a useful evening. Loved sharing experience of how we address miscarriages of justice, as journalists and a real privilege to be on this panel.
