The number of PSNI officers who are members of ‘notifiable organisations’ such as the loyal orders has been branded “alarming”.
One political representative questioned whether those affiliations can “bleed into day-to-day interactions”.
Out of all 11 policing areas, the Derry City and Strabane district has the highest number of officers who are members of the loyal orders.
Derry City and Strabane council area has the highest Catholic population (68.4pc) in Northern Ireland.
