The first rule of working in a team - if a problem was solved, high fives all around.
(today's high five was for finding the hidden "-C target-cpu=native" compilation flag that meant we couldn't run our docker image on a different Github Actions runner)
Today's lesson - avoid the term "scrappy" in online meetings. At some point the audio stream will hiccough, and others won't hear the "s".
90% of the "senior" part of a senior developer is walking other developers through issues that mimic the mistakes that I've made, probably several times.
Frankly, this feels great. I might not know what your code is doing, but I do know where I went wrong in similar cases.
Today's Rust riddle - when you use a std::sync::Barrier in an async test for an async executor, did you intend for the function/test to block?
I've started reading Asynchronous Programming in Rust (by @cf_samson), and I'm really digging it. It's a great book for programmers - like @m_ou_se's Rust Atomics and Locks, it's not really about Rust - it's about concrete details on the basics on how CPUs and OSs work.

I got sidetracked between posts and decided to make something a bit different.
Huge thank you to @_colin_scott_ for letting me use his work, and inspiring me to make this.

A cool new open-source project coming out my team at AWS, github.com/aws/glide-for-red…. It's a new Redis client that decouples the problem into a core high performance rust driver that connects to the servers that interacts with per-language (Python and Node today) client wrappers.
Finally, I can reveal what I've been working on lately!
GLIDE for Redis - a new OSS Redis client, written mostly in Rust (based on the excellent work of the redis-rs crate), and wrapped in TypeScript, Python, and soon also Java, C#, and more!

Latest Russian joke:
-- What does mobilization have common in Russia and Israel?
-- Long lines for flights to Tel Aviv.
Hello, I've been coding professionally for over a decade. This is still kinda of a daily thing for me.
