This is the first July I will not be moving onto another year of medical training. Instead, I’m excited to share:
👩🏻⚕️ I’m staying at @BrighamWomens as a general cardiologist
🚀 I’m founding my own business around exercise-as-medicine for chronic disease.
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 to my people
I’ve been delivering every group visit at my startup Systole.
Because when you’re building a new model for women’s heart health, you build it right.
Now we’re growing 📈— and we’re hiring our first founding physician.
If you’re a PCP who gets fired up about 🫀CV prevention (eg lipoprotein(a), apoB, calcium scores, GLP1s, and the power of lifestyle medicine) and you believe in innovative care models (like group virtual visits) — we want to hear from you.
🗓️Starting Fall 2025.
👩🏻💻Fully remote.
🚀Backed by top investors like One Medical founder Tom X Lee
If this sounds like you (or someone you know), let’s connect.
🚨 Big update! After seeing so many women struggle to access care for their heart health, I decided to build a startup to address their challenges.
Today, I’m excited to share that Systole (yes, I am a cardiology nerd 🤓) just closed a $2M pre-seed round—backed by investors including Tom X. Lee (founder of One Medical)—to bring group virtual care to women’s heart health. Our work was just featured in @FierceHealth by @emmabeavins yesterday (link in comments).
The problem is massive:
Heart disease is the leading cause of death among women but care for its risk factors fall into the “messy middle.” Women wait months to have all-too-short visits with their PCPs. Meanwhile, cardiologists are drowning in referrals and can’t see every patient in need of cardiometabolic optimization.
This is why Systole helps bring group virtual care to health systems and practices. Our group visit model expands access by cutting wait times while improving outcomes by moving low-risk, high-need women into physician-led group care.
If you’re a cardiologist or PCP bogged down with wait times and pressure to do more with less, I’d love to connect. In the meantime, wish us luck as we get started 🚀

An EMPA-REG OUTCOME-like moment in obesity medicine!
Wow, wow, wow!
In SELECT trial of patients with obesity (mean BMI 33, n>17,000) & prior atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (but no diabetes),
GLP-1 agonist semaglutide 2.4mg once-weekly
reduced risk of CV death, heart attack, or stroke (RRR 20%)

Jaylen Brown is the definition of IT’S BIGGER THAN BASKETBALL. He just signed a $304 Million extension with the Boston Celtics, the biggest contract in NBA History, and his response to what he wants to do in Boston is worth 1 min of your time.

Congratulations to @MGBUnited on organizing their union with @cirseiu. I call on @MassGenBrigham to hold a fair and transparent election that is free from intimidation.

Despite the disruption of #COVID19, this innovative remote hypertension program enhanced BP control and patient engagement. #AHAJournals #AHACOVID19 @sgleemd @AJBloodMD ahajrnls.org/3lGhGES

Congratulations to @sgleeMD @AJBloodMD @cpcannon @BScirica and the @MassGenBrigham team on a super impressive remote Hypertension management program study: ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/…
There is nothing like being part of mission-driven innovation in healthcare delivery. During the darkest moments of #COVID our remote HTN program achieved BP control better and faster while increasing home monitoring and program diversity.

Among the many things I learned through writing this paper is the importance of grit when trying to share something important with the world (am I right @angeladuckw ?) and mentorship (I had the best in Naomi Fisher, @cpcannon and @BScirica).
We know remote care works. Time to scale across conditions and countries (very excited about companies like @CadenceCares led by people like @caltchek ) to improve health at scale.

Proud of our whole research team in finalizing our NUDGE-FLU trial in which we randomized the whole danish population >=65 years to test which NUDGE letter would increase flu vaccine uptake most.
