At #UNGA81,I reaffirmed 🇸🇱’s commitment to the International CriminalCourt & the principles of accountability, justice & rule of law.Our history reminds us that lasting peace requires justice.🇸🇱 will continue to stand firmly for a strong, independent & credible int. justice system.
Today in NY,i met with the Min.of Justice of the Netherlands 4 ongoing discussions on strengthening judicial/security cooperation in addressing transnational organised crime &our shared commitment to deepening collaboration btwn our countries grounded in mutual respect/interests
Yesterday,I had the pleasure of hosting representatives of the Republic of Ireland, France,& the EU Mission in 🇸🇱 .Our discussions focused on areas of shared interest including ongoing governance reforms, promotion & protection of human rights,& strengthening judicial cooperation.
Excited to join an exceptional panel of justice leaders from across Africa to examine practical reforms that place citizens at the heart of justice systems and strengthen public trust in the rule of law.
When Cassius told me he was going to create s/thing bigger & better,I had no doubt he would deliver. But even with those expectations,I was completely blown away when I saw the finished piece. His creativity, attention to detail, and craftsmanship are simply unmatched.
Our governance must be inclusive & reflect diversity of our nation. We have proposed an amendment to Sec.61 of the Constitution to require that, in making appointments & constituting Government, the President considers regional balance, gender equity & inclusion of minority groups
I met with the UNDP this afternoon to advance our collaboration on the “Enhancing Access to Justice for Vulnerable Groups and Advancing People-Centred Justice Reforms” project.
We are here again today- in the House of Parliament- doing the people’s work. Together, “We are moving from the constitution of survival to a constitution of prosperity”
Only under Proportional Representation has women representation in governance increased.Thats more reason why PR should be the preferred electoral system in 🇸🇱 .Women make up 52% of our population & data shows PR brings them closer to governance than any other system used in 🇸🇱
It’s capacity building but it’s always fun doing it with this incredible crew- the police investigators and law officers/prosecutors who keep our justice system functioning. I couldn’t ask for a better team to learn, grow, and serve with.
At my request,I met with the Min.of Justice of the Netherlands to continue our longstanding discussions on security &judicial cooperation on transnational crime. We underscored the importance of sustained commitment&cooperation to safeguard our respective borders&protect ourpeople

Today, pursuant to Section 45 of the Criminal Procedure Act of 2024, I have filed papers to discontinue charges against former President Ernest Bai Koroma, who has been on bail for medical reasons following his arraignment before a magistrate.
This afternoon, I hosted the Independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion (ICPNC), the National Moral Guarantors of the Agreement for National Unity, and representatives of the All People’s Congress to review progress in implementing the electoral reforms recommended by the Tripartite Committee.
Our discussions took stock of the reforms already implemented, considered updates on those that remain underway, and agreed on a clear roadmap for their continued implementation. The meeting also reaffirmed our shared commitment to strengthening Sierra Leone’s democratic institutions through meaningful governance and electoral reforms, guided by dialogue, consensus, and the national interest.
On the margins of my engagements in Paris, I held constructive discussions at UNESCO Headquarters on the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence in strengthening justice systems and advancing the rule of law. UNESCO is leading important global efforts to promote the ethical and responsible use of AI within judicial and legal institutions, and Sierra Leone is committed to being an active participant in this evolving agenda.
Artificial Intelligence is increasingly reshaping the administration of justice through its application in legal research, case management, evidence analysis, and judicial administration. While these innovations offer significant opportunities to enhance the efficiency, accessibility, and quality of justice, they also underscore the need for strong safeguards to protect due process, judicial independence, transparency, accountability, and fundamental human rights.
Our discussions centred on UNESCO’s AI, Justice and Rule of Law programme, which seeks to equip judicial actors and legal institutions with the knowledge and capacity to integrate AI in a manner that is ethical, rights-based, and consistent with international standards.
As Sierra Leone continues to implement an ambitious programme of justice sector reform, we recognize that technological innovation must be matched by sound governance and principled leadership. We therefore look forward to deepening our collaboration with UNESCO to ensure that Artificial Intelligence is harnessed responsibly to strengthen justice delivery, reinforce public confidence in our institutions, and advance the rule of law in Sierra Leone.
