The EU should force AI companies to make their subscriptions work with third-party harnesses the same way it forced Apple to adopt USB-C

On Sunday, I took my ballot with me to see if it would be reflected in the official results and test whether they actually count the votes. They don't.

The probability of someone discovering a better approach for AI and everyone downstream of TSMC becoming obsolete is nonzero
After co-inventing ChatGPT, I kept asking myself: why have superhuman chat models not led to AGI? I’ve spent the last 2 years in stealth building a new way to train models (RLCD), and a new type of frontier AI model that we are releasing today: Jev • 20-200x faster • 40-400x cheaper (w/ output tokens free) • Frontier composable intelligence optimized for decisions AFAICT the shortest path to AI-based economic revolution

UPD: United Russia also ended up drawing #1 spot in 21/39 of regional parliament campaigns, an event with p-value of 0.0000000378
3.5 hours ago, United Russia "drew" the #1 spot on the ballot, which is expected to give it an additional 0.5-1% of votes on the election day. Some curious details about the drawing procedure: (1/3)

- No separate slot in the drum for the selected ball; the person drawing could choose any. - The open balls were shown before being closed; one could visually track them. - Every other party had a public leader draw; for United Russia, it was an unnamed "assistant". (2/3)

We should secretly run experiments like this and restrict key government posts to the 3% of non-cheating students
Friends don't let friends continue to give exams and papers that are not adapted to the current AI landscape (this is AFTER 27 bailed so the reality is even worse) PS Props to students 1, 22, and 31

Idea for an econometrics paper: recalculate GPAs for two sets of subjects or tests for which it is easy and hard to cheat and use the difference as a proxy for honesty. Then regress this on job performance in a field with agency problems

Linux desktop is a lot more enjoyable now that AI agents can customize and troubleshoot things. I could even imagine Linux dethroning closed-source environments as pi-style self-modifying software becomes usable by non-technical people

I don't understand how engagement baiting is still a thing in recommendation systems. Somewhere in the trillions of tweets and YouTube shorts, there should be enough statistical information for a model to penalize a movie clip with an intentionally omitted name

I did a project on making an optimized implementation of the S+ tree. The result is 40x speedup over plain binary search! It builds on Algorithmica's post on S-trees and the famous paper "Array layouts for comparison based searching" by @pkhuong. 🧵 curiouscoding.nl/posts/stati…

Chechnya, a republic in Russia, banned all music slower than 80 and faster than 116 bpm (not a joke)

I wonder if Take Me Out will now be illegal (it has a one-minute intro at 142 and then slows down to 104)

Or if a radio station can play Master of Puppets and claim it's 110 with half-length notes instead of 220
