Our reaction to any new study is either “I don’t believe it” or “I knew it”... A NEJM trial in ICU pts w acute resp failure found that mucolytics (carbocisteine & hypertonic saline) don’t help. My ICU rounds line “mucolytics are useless” may need an update: “and possibly harmful”

(1/x) Andromeda-Shock 2 was just published in JAMA and is the most important septic shock trial in the past DECADE. They found that phenotyped resuscitation improves the composite outcome of mortality, vital support, and hospital LOS. Here's how you can apply this protocol to your practice 👇

Grief is not a purely negative emotion. Over time, it becomes bittersweet—sadness is joined by love and gratitude. Nostalgia is a healthy response to loss. Longing for the past motivates us to appreciate the present and improve the future. The goal of coping is not to erase pain. It's to gain purpose.

If Taylor Swift IS the surprise DNC guest, well, we probably shouldn’t be all that surprised. She’s a real one.

I'm starting to get obsessed with how this lady scammed the Australian government to pay for her French holiday and all she had to do is pretend to breakdance

Today was the last day of critical care fellowship, last day as a trainee! I’m looking forward to my three months of unemployment before my next journey starts. How bittersweet to leave this place… I’ll be thinking about all the people that has helped me along the way…

Just really inspired today by an attending who went above and beyond to advocate for our patient and their family in this extremely complex healthcare world that makes it nearly impossible, especially for non-medical, non-English speaking patients. Will take this with me. #goals

Speaking of AWESOMENESS Check out this new #NutsandBolts piece in Academic Peds featuring @OSUMedPedsRes grads @ARossettiMD (now PD), @A_DelermeMD (IM APD), @RenaKasickMD (@NCHPedsRes APD) & the inimitable @gradydoctor (not enough space here to describe how incredible she is)
My (@DoctorVig 's) favorite part about having transient control over this Twitter account until it goes back to the new resident team is the fact that I get to shout out all the awesomeness here.

Navigating my infant daughter’s diagnosis and treatment for brain cancer has been excruciatingly painful and eye-opening. Prior authorization denials and dealing with insurance made it so much worse. Writing about it has helped. jamanetwork.com/journals/jam…
