Christopher Scholtes, who left his 2-year-old daughter to die in a hot car while watching 🌽 and playing video games, was found d—ad before he was due to report to prison. Scholtes had pleaded guilty to second-degree m—der and was facing up to 30 years in prison. His d—ath is being investigated as a s——cide. His daughter d—ed on July 9, 2024, after being found unresponsive in the backseat of a car while temperatures reached 109°F. His other children, aged 5 and 9, reportedly told investigators that their father regularly left them in the car and sometimes became distracted by playing video games and putting food away. As their younger sister was being rushed to the hospital, Scholtes’ wife sent him a text saying, “I told you to stop leaving them in the car. How many times have I told you?”
