The illustrator of the original ‘WILDWOOD’ book Carson Ellis has a cameo in the film.
“Enjoy handmade art… before it’s gone for good!”
“Wildwood” director Travis Knight calls AI an “amazing piece of technology” but says, “I’m not embracing it at all.”
“I see technology as a tool, and we use technology at Laika. A pencil is technology, a paintbrush is technology, a 3D printer is technology. Technology is useful when you put it in the hands of people, when you put it in the hands of artists who can amplify their voice."
“Technology is not useful when it takes the place of the artist, and that’s the concern with generative AI,” he continued. “It’s an amazing piece of technology, but the concern is that when it supplants the artist, then we have an issue because the computer cannot speak about humanity at all. It doesn’t know what it feels like.”

Y’all do not like yourselves. That’s why everybody gotta come back to the office, you can’t go eat lunch or the movies alone, and your SO can’t go anywhere without you. You’re a loser and you know it, but you’ve decided to make it everyone else’s problem

feel like a lot of reads on YCSE ignore that manipulation is often more of an unconscious instinct than an active choice

people as usual are so weird about this movie
everyone understands that nikki is a victim. nobody is contesting that. frankenstein's monster is a victim but is also universally accepted as a horror icon. so is carrie white, leatherface, JASON, etc etc etc

this is such a bad way to engage with art and film. there’s such a value in watching media that is confronting things that challenge you or are exploring topics that feel...thorny and complex. it’s literally part of the human experience.
