Firmware is not a black box.
Every device ships its OS in one binary. 7 tools take it apart, in analyst order:
binwalk → finds the kernel and root fs
unblob → unpacks every layer, even gaps
Ghidra → decompiles stripped code to C
angr → maps the code without running it
cwe_checker → flags weak functions
FirmAE → emulates firmware, no hardware
EMBA → the whole review in one command
They overlap on purpose. Knowing which to reach for is the real skill.
