THELMA AND LOUISE @youngvictheatre is a complete knock-out. The tension between speech and song is more dramatically meaningful than in any new musical theatre piece I’ve seen in recent times. The staging rocks. Dynamite vocals and real empathy from Rachel Tucker and Amy Lennox

What a miraculous creation Britten’s WAR REQUIEM is (pace Pierre Boulez) and how timely of Edward Gardner to kick off the new @LPOrchestra season so magnificently in such troubled times. No words can ever describe the apocalyptic climax of the Libera me - not even Wilfred Owen’s.

We’ve lost the remarkable JILL GOMEZ. She and I were a BBC TV double act for the 1991 Cardiff Singer of the world where we were extremely naughty together. She also shared a singing teacher with my dear friend and collaborator Patricia Routledge. What memories.
