๐Ÿšจ Plex2Shell vulnerability chain reportedly exploited against outdated Plex servers PoC: github.com/code-zm/plex2shelโ€ฆ A security researcher says an internet-facing Plex honeypot was compromised on October 17 using an exploit chain targeting four recently disclosed vulnerabilities: โ€ข CVE-2026-96652 โ€ข CVE-2026-96654 โ€ข CVE-2026-96655 โ€ข CVE-2026-96656 โ € The flaws can be chained to achieve unauthenticated remote code execution on affected Plex Media Server installations. โ € Observed payloads included an XMRig cryptocurrency miner and a proxy application named โ€œmyawesomeproxy,โ€ which could allow attackers to route traffic through compromised residential connections. โ € Potential signs of compromise include suspicious child processes launched by Plex Media Server and processes or command lines containing: โ€ข myawesomeproxy โ€ข mylovelyminer โ€ข x12345 โ€ข --rig-id โ€ข --donate-level โ€ข proxystream[.]st โ € Plex fixed the vulnerabilities in Media Server 1.43.3.10861. Administrators running earlier versions should update immediately and inspect internet-facing Linux and Docker deployments for suspicious processes. โ € The exploitation evidence currently comes from one researcherโ€™s honeypot and has not been independently confirmed as a wider campaign.

โ€ผ๏ธ BeyondTrust 0-Day Vulnerability Exploited Since August to Gain Full Admin Access in Minutes Details: cybersecuritynews.com/beyondโ€ฆ A critical zero-day vulnerability in BeyondTrust Remote Support was exploited in late August, weeks before the company disclosed the flaw and released a patch. The suspected China-linked espionage group ARMORY CASTLE used the weakness to access appliances, escalate privileges to root, and reach credentials the product stores or handles. The vulnerability is tracked as CVE-2026-102764. It affects supported BeyondTrust Remote Support versions up to and including 26.2.3. BeyondTrust says the issue lies in an internal messaging component that did not properly check where messages came from. The company has not published the technical details of the flaw, citing the risk to customers who have not patched. #cybersecuritynews

โš ๏ธ Microsoftโ€™s Recent Windows Updates Break Remote Desktop Services With Error โ€œ0xC000000Dโ€ Details: cybersecuritynews.com/microsโ€ฆ Microsoft has confirmed a Windows 11 Remote Desktop issue that can prevent non-admin users from connecting to remote computers with Administrator protection enabled. The problem follows the September 22, 2026, non-security preview update, KB5124010, or later updates. It mainly affects company-managed computers used as Remote Desktop hosts. Failed connections may return error 0xC000000D and display the message, โ€œThe token that was passed to the function is invalid.โ€ Microsoft opened the issue on October 13 and updated its status to โ€œMitigatedโ€ that morning. #cybersecuritynews #Technews

โ€ผ๏ธ Microsoft Windows Shell 0-Day Vulnerability Actively Exploited in Attacks Details: cybersecuritynews.com/windowโ€ฆ Microsoft has patched an actively exploited Windows Shell zero-day vulnerability that allows attackers to bypass Mark of the Web protections. Tracked as CVE-2026-96951, the flaw was addressed in the October 2026 Patch Tuesday updates. It carries a CVSS score of 8.8 and is rated Important by Microsoft. The flaw involves command injection, where Windows Shell fails to properly handle special elements used in a command. Attackers can deliver a specially crafted file through email or instant messaging and use social engineering to persuade the target to open it. Exploitation requires user action. #cybersecuritynews #Microsoft

AnyDesk Linux Flaw Lets Remote Attackers Execute Code as Root Without Authentication Details: cybersecuritynews.com/anydesโ€ฆ A working proof-of-concept for a serious AnyDesk Linux vulnerability that can let remote attackers run commands as root without authentication or user approval. The issue, named AnyPwn, affects AnyDesk Linux 8.0.2 and was fixed in version 8.0.3. Organizations using AnyDesk for Linux should update immediately and check whether TCP port 7070 is exposed to untrusted networks. The issue exists in AnyDeskโ€™s session protocol, which handles data exchanged while a remote client connects to the service. In the affected version, the mode-5 stream packet handler accepts a remote payload length before safely validating it. #cybersecuritynews

๐Ÿšจ Ransomware Actors Exploiting Palo Alto GlobalProtect Flaw for Stealthy VPN Access Source: cybersecuritynews.com/palo-aโ€ฆ Ransomware groups are actively exploiting CVE-2026-0257, an authentication bypass affecting Palo Alto Networks PAN-OS GlobalProtect and Prisma Access. @ReliaQuestTR reports that multiple threat groups, including Qilin and Settra, are using the flaw to create unauthorized VPN sessions and enter internal networks through trusted remote access services. The activity presents a serious detection challenge because attackers connect through an organizationโ€™s own VPN. Their traffic can look like normal remote work, giving them time to steal credentials, move between systems, collect sensitive data, or prepare ransomware before security teams recognize the intrusion. #cybersecuritynews
